Where do you buy ammo?

Sorry, I’ve searched but can’t find the thread of where do you buy ammo. Pls bear with me.

I was surfing the websites I know and all of them seem to have raised prices. I even googled but little help. I don’t want to buy anything off brand after my experience with YTR ammo. I had to replace my iPad and lost some links. Went to SG ammo and Lucky Gunner but didn’t like the price of 30 cents a round for the decent stuff. Any links you can share are appreciated.

What ammo are you looking for? I keep hearing that prices are going up but I haven’t seen it at least not from the suppliers who email me their sales.

Sportsman’s Fulfillment just sent a couple days ago to offer Blazer Brass 9mm FMJ 115gr or 124gr for $11.49/box.
Freedom Munitions had their house brand 9mm 115 reman for $11.49 (good stuff in my experience) and the same thing new for $12.49.
I have seen others offering the Blazer 9mm for $12.49 to $13.99 per box. Shipping can vary from free to “too much”.

Decent prices for these days, considering that my local big box store routinely prices the Blazer at $18.99 a box.

If you shoot a lot, @Larry130 pointed the best website. With AMMO+ membership you have better price and free shipping for any amount bought.
Additionally you can shoot a variety of ammo manufactures.

I’personally shoot whatever is less expensive at the moment. One condition: everything must be already tested by me.
I’ve recently bought 9mm Turkish ZSR training ammo from FAST AMMO and was surprised having it delivered in 2 days. Good packing, which I always appreciate.
They have tricky pricing - listed very cheap ammo and high shipping costs. But 1,000 rounds costed me $238.00

Right now I’m using igman and it’s like I’m shooting black powder. Runs well enough but it’s smokey as hell. I hope to use it up sooner than later. Who knows what prices will be like soon. With the hurricanes taking out peoples supply, I think there will be a shortage again soon as everyone stocks back up.

Almost any brass cased ammo not in a white box should suit your needs. Magtech, Sellier&Belliot (sp?), and Brazer often have good pricing. The more you buy the better the per round cost (generally). Most sellers have a shipping threashold…if you are paying above a certain threshold you pay no shipping cost.

https://ammoseek.com/ is always a great place to start. They list all online ammo sales and have good filters to search for what you want.

I’m seeing an early indication that shortages and price increases may be coming. I have been buying boxed revolver ammo from Midway for years. During the post covid shortages it was hard to get and upwards of $35 for a box of 50 FMJ. Over the last few years I could get good range ammo, like Federal American Eagle FMJ, for the low $20’s per box. Now it’s suddenly all out of stock, and the few off brands they have are up over $30 again and climbing. .223/5.56 still seems plentiful and reasonably priced, but I see increases and shortages coming based on the article below and the fact that less common calibers like .38 Special are always the first to have production cut in times of shortages.

Personally, I’m doing less live fire and more dry fire just to conserve and build up my supplies.
