From 1996-1997 Australia issued a massive mandatory gun buyback!

Approximately 650,000 firearms were surrendered and destroyed. The program was funded by a temporary increase in the Medicare levy (from 1.5% to 1.7% for one year), with total compensation costs around at around $304 million and administration costs about A$63 million.

A separate 2003 national handgun buyback collected about 68,727 handguns following further restrictions.

Further initiatives include ongoing state amnesties (28 since 1996), a permanent national firearms amnesty since 2021 (over 40,000 firearms surrendered by mid-2024), and recent state-level buybacks, such as Western Australia’s 2024 scheme that removed tens of thousands of guns ahead of stricter laws.

Now, all of the bad guys who want them have guns and the good Australian citizens are left more defenseless than ever!

14 December 2025 Mass shooting incident. Occurred at Bondi Beach in Sydney during a Hanukkah celebration. According to New South Wales Police 15 people were killed, and 40 were wounded. One of the perpetrators was killed in a shootout with police, while the other was injured and arrested.[38][39]

I am singling Australia out for this article because their own .gov is using the DEAD INNOCENTS as a means for TOTAL DISARMAMENT. What does this have to do with America? I’m glad you asked. The Soros/Cabal/Socialists SEE THIS as a Template on how to do this here. Their ‘Vision’ is an unarmed , helpless, down trodden people fully DEPENDENT on the .gov. Think on this, Why bring in the Illegals from all over the World? (Third Worlds mostly)? Now the focus is on the Somali’s (avg. IQ in the mid 60’s). They come from nothing and are given EVERYTHING (also Illegally) for their VOTE!). Does anybody reading this believe these folk’s are capable of STEALING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS of Taxpayer monies in intricate schemes, well hidden (till it was exposed) Who really benefits from all that theft? How about the American HATING Congress-Pukes and Senators, The Radical left Judges, Governors and Mayors who have the keys to the Vaults?

While Australia’s history is tragic, the disarmament is Planned and full of purpose. If you take away all the Guns the .gov’s will have the rest of the wealth these countries possess. They already have 3/4’s of it all why leave the last 1/4 for the Peon’s?

We need to be Vigilant, Clear eyed and focused. Trump won’t be able to do it all. I mean he’s done really good EXPOSING the US AID, SOMALI/SOCIALISTS etc but there is still (8) more heads on this Hydra that need to be destroyed. How can .gov’s SUPPORT ‘Drug Boat runners’? How can they ACTIVELY/OPENLY Support the over throw of our Commander-In-Chief? Block all his EO’s (Executive Orders), STALL Completely any forward progress? (waiting for their chance to regain power in the mid terms-FAT friggin’ chance but they have a dream huh>)

When this current crisis (Power/Money Grabs in Blue States fully comes out heads better roll!

Th everyday Citizen is fed up with WAITING. The Job holder, Family Oriented Citizen trying to earn enough to feed, clothe the family, Have a decent car or truck, But see’s their TAXES go to the Foreign Freeloaders every day. Even the staunchest leftist would have to agree the 2020 election was, shall we say, odd, to say the least. Everyone else with a brain can admit it was stolen. Then we had a guy with the awareness of a rotten turnip, who couldn’t piece together a coherent sentence, supposedly “in command” while his staff used the autopen to sign thousands of executive orders, pardons, directives and God-knows-what else. He even admitted, frequently, that his handlers wouldn’t let him talk to the press. He was a phuckin puppet! We had an honest to God corrupt (China, Ukraine that we know of) puppet as our “president.” I’ll never, ever get over that.

Don’t even get me started on the intervening four years after the installation of the rotten turnip. We all know that history, all too well.

Yes, we have the 2A that protects our right. Australia doesn’t, otherwise it comes down to big govt not addressing the issue and go after the tool. Both countries , and many more, are the same in that aspect

You My Friends see clearly (Thank God!)

WE Gunner’s and a lot of regular working class Americans KNOW The GUN is NOT the problem.

Without going into excruciating detail (again!) WE KNOW WE GIVE UP OUR ‘RIGHT TO KEEP ANF BEAR ARMS’ WE ARE FINISHED AS A SUPER POWER and LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD.

We also know we’ve been here before (Just ask the British) what Taxation without representation and OVER RULE worked out for them. They’ve really never recovered from our Beat down.

My angst is we are losing far too many wonderful American Innocents every day And the Corrupt Criminals that STOLE their positions are responsible for most of this! (Blood on their hands)

We may not be able to bring them back but we can stay ARMED for future Generations because once a Right is lost it is prolly lost forever. We owe it to our children to stay STRONG and Hard.

I take more of an optimistic approach. Australia takes more of a left leaning approach to guns. Australia has less gun crime not because they have less guns, they have less criminals. They can afford less guns. We have more crime so we need more guns for people to protect our selves. That is the way I see it.

Grant it, gun crimes are way below US standards but when it comes to burglary, auto theft or rape, Australia ties us or surpasses us. Considering per capital, that’s not too comforting.

I’ll take the higher violent crime numbers with the option of defending myself vs being a sheep

Actually, Australia has far fewer gun deaths per capital than the USA. However, I don’t think gun buybacks would work on a large scale in the USA, for legal and social reasons. As a gun owner myself, I am constantly appalled by the actions of some who clearly have never had safety training, or have anger or mental health issues. But I don’t have any good answers either. Frankly there are some people who have no business owning a gun, they are dangerous to themselves and others. In my area in Indiana, a man shot a cleaning lady through a closed door. Another man just murdered his wife in front of the children despite a protective order.

Welcome to the group.

Talking in terms of “gun deaths” or “gun violence” plays right into the gun grabbers’ hands. They, and those terms, make it about the guns, and not the violence. The tool doesn’t matter. It’s the violent crime that matters.

As it turns out, Australia has a murder rate very comparable to most of the European countries, some of whom have strict gun laws, with very little gun ownership (e.g. the Netherlands) and some of whom have relatively high rates of gun ownership (e.g. Switzerland and the Finland). All those countries sit at about 0.8 murders per 100,000 people. The gun laws and gun ownership rates make no apparent difference.

Jamaca is the most violent country in the world by murder rate, yet they have very strict gun laws. Mexico is working hard to become as violent and dangerous as Jamaca, and, again, the average citizen is totally disarmed.

It’s not about the guns. It’s about society, corrupt governments and economic damage, illegal drugs, gangs, family break down and much, much more. Doctoral thesis papers have been written about everything it is, but, in any case, violence is violence, regardless of the tools.

Any competent machinist can build a fully functional fully automatic firearm. In addition there are always smugglers willing to fill a market. The war on drugs is proof that they can not get rid of guns. Disarming the public means there will be a lot of unarmed targets available for determined gunmen and terrorists. There will be more mass shootings especially now that they know the police will hide. If they did manage to stop the guns can they stop the vehicles, knives and bombs?
