That sounds awesome. Did it have a red dot sight? Cause that would be the bomb diggety!!!
No, it had nice fiber optic sights through. It really was fun to shoot. The sound of the bolt was a lot louder than the shot!
I use to hunt squirrels with a Browning Buckmark, but a Ruger with a can would be really sweet!
The Phoenix was a nightmare. I think it was designed by a flock of lawyers. If I remember right it had lack 3 safeties. Spent most time trying to remember what to push squeeze or turn to fire it. It’s been years but I hatted it.
@Steven147 Beretta 21A Bobcat in 22LR, I’ve carried one of these since the 80’s when they came out, my wife has one also, we both love it. No need to rack the slide has a tip up barrel 7 & 1. It runs GREAT with 40 grain High-velocity CPRN 22LR ammo, with a Muzzle Velocity: 1255 F.P.S. Muzzle Energy: 140 ft.-lbs. My carry ammo is Fiocchi 22FHVCRN, 2nd: choice Winchester Super-X 22LR 40 gr. CPRN, 3rd: choice Aguila 40gr. CPRN, and last choice is CCI Mini-Mag 40gr, High-velocity, CPRN, Muzzle Velocity: 1235 F.P.S. Muzzle Energy: 135 ft.-lbs. check out the YouTube video link below, NRA gun of the week. We also have the Beretta 21A in 25acp, & the Beretta Tomcat in 32acp, I think you both would like the 21A in 22LR, they are Great guns! Happy Holidays.
For the price, I find the Ruger LCR revolvers to be of rugged good quality, and of unique look/style. A family member of mine has a .357 stainless, and a black .22 snub, 8 rounder. With wooden grips, they have a classic look as well, for collectors’ value per se.
Our family finds the Ruger .22 revolver, good for training newcomers of our family, as well as the .22 Ruger LCP semi auto, 10 rounder, as it has the easy to rack slide, and easy to load features, no pain in the hands or fingers. Word to wise, that chamber is deep and dark, thus always double check that chamber, use bright lighting and a chamber flag indicator when storing.
Partly why I like the bright casings that come with certain ammo, like the CCI Stingers, polished metal casings.
Here’s my 2 cents.
I was divided between the Kel-Tec P17 and the Taurus TX 22.
It’s for my 16 year old son and his first hand gun.
I went with the Taurus
I ended up going with a S&W M&P 22 compact for fun but also it was the most like our S&W M&P Shield Plus 9mm & S&W Equalizer that I just picked up my my girlfriend. Great gun she shoots better than I do with that gun against my Shield Plus. The plus for me is the 22LR rounds are inexpensive right now and no recoil for practicing accuracy. I also have a S&W M&P AR-15 22 that is so much fun and much lighter than my AR-15. Both the 22LR’s are great for taking the kids and non-shooters to the farm and getting them exposure to shooting and the safety they need to learn and respect when it comes to rifles & hand guns.
I have 3 of the S & W AR-15 22’s plus the AR pistol. 3 of the Ruger Mark III 1 of the S & W 22 handgun . The oldest AR was the second one sold around here has way over 100,000 rounds thru it. For around a year it had 550 rounds minimum thru it 7 days a week.
Since the thread came back here’s an update. I now own 4 Glock 44s and they rock for training. In fact they’ve become my main training tool to teach brand new shooters.
Hate to bear bad tidings but there in no …22 rimfire made that’ll break 1000 fps from a 21 Berreta. Not possible given the short barrel. You’ll find those rounds running a bunch closer to 750 fps IF you’re lucky. If you doubt this I strongly suggest you buy a chrono and check. Darn few .22 LR’s will break 1200 fps from a Rifle. I like a model 21, great little pistol and very reliable, BUT not very powerful, sorry.
I recommend the Walter P22
