I am just going to throw this out here, not because I didn’t vote for Trump but because I am a US Tax Payer. How does this improve my life? The Amount of time and US Tax Payer dollars spent just doesn’t make sense, when it’s something that literally only shows up as you say if you are in the US using whatever App you used. My Google Maps show’s it as Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America) which literally is the same way I say that child is Special Needs, when really what I mean is that child is (Retarded).

It might not have improved your life .But it surely did not take anything away from it either.

My brain rewires very slowly. I’ve lived along the Gulf coast almost 20 years now, so it’s gonna take me a long time to remember to say Gulf of America. I always just abbreviated it GOM, so now I’ll have to get used to GOA. On the other hand, I don’t mind the new name; it has a nice ring to it.

I also never even knew that Mt. McKinley wasn’t Mt. McKinley anymore. That’s all I ever knew it as. I didn’t know he meant at first when he said he was changing the name back. I was like, “back from what?”

I hope he restores the names of the military bases.

Welcome to the community. A lot of good input from these folks on many different topics. You should enjoy as well as learn. I certainly am.

Hegseth has already started that process. I believe one of the bases in North Carolina was his first to change back.

When they took the VERY well-paid inventors name off the pancake syrup, no one really cared.

When they kept the land picture but removed the Indian from the butter packages, no one really cared.

A piece of water that doesn’t belong to anyone. Who cares what it’s called?

There must be some smug people out there somewhere who think such things accomplish something.

I kinda cared a little about the syrup - but I guess because I don’t eat a lot of pancakes I don’t really care. I don’t really care about renaming the Gulf, or the bases, except I wonder what the cost of that is - with the bases, all the signage and stuff will need to be changed back - I thought Liberty was a stupid name to replace Bragg; but I’ve always been a fan of Hal Moore, so am a little bummed that he no longer has a base named after him. But really, i think we have bigger problems than renaming the Gulf, so that just seems a little silly to me.

I almost feel the same way! 35 years along the Gulf of AMERICA.
It me took NO TIME, to adjust!
If tomorrow he wanted to call the Panama Canal, the Miami Canal, I’d be just fine.
If I could, I’d donate to the Trump/Rushmore campaign.
That’s possibly a little over the top, no pun intended, but would be worth every penny!

We’ve had soooo much crap shoved down our throats, it’s time to make them pay without the bloodshed and destruction!
Total and complete psychological torture! As a matter of fact we need to return the sports teams names back, aka the Washington Redskins and every holiday and monument! As well as all the record books containing the names of male “winners” in WOMENS SPORTS :red_exclamation_mark:

THERE IT IS! Fort Bragg is now FORT BRAGG once again BUT!
‘While flying aboard a C-17 from Joint Base Andrews to Stuttgart on February 10, 2025, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum renaming Fort Liberty in North Carolina to Fort Bragg. The new name pays tribute to Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II hero who earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his exceptional courage during the Battle of the Bulge. This change underscores the installation’s legacy of recognizing those who have demonstrated extraordinary service and sacrifice for the nation’.
It’s a subtle renaming instead of catering to the Butthurt Left who get their panties in a wad over the base originally named after Gen. Braxton Bragg a Confederate General who served in you know ‘The Thing’ back in the 1860’s.
THIS is how they are RETAKING OUR HISTIRY BACK from the Axxhole Left.
I’m really sorry Leftist motards but history is history, you can’t CHANGE it to your warped Ideology anymore just because you feel it’s inappropriate to your thinking.
Just like there are only (2) genders, NO MEN in Women’s sports and a host of other stupid sh!t they tried to force down our throats.
Like Scott I LOVED ‘The Gulf of America’ change! INSTANTLY.
And as a Goof in that same vein it was said changing the State of New Mexico to ‘West Texas’
I don’t know how much $ it would cost me to change business cards, stationary, mailing labels
etc. I would do it in a heartbeat!
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE OPTIC’S! Like Mount Rushmore Trump up there with 'THE GREATS"!
PRICELESS! I’d donate!
Good thread JohnnyF !
