Went to stupid place, played stupid games, won stupid prize. Now the State Dept. is supposed to extricate him somehow, and his family needs to bankrupt itself over legal bills.
Reminds me of another Marine who went to Iran (why???!!!), was jailed there.

Wow this is a sad story but things like this could happen here in the USA. The justice or sentence would not have been the same though. That would’ve been disorderly conduct.
