The public asked this question for a long time. It needs to be answered.
This is interesting, and I’m looking forward to whatever information they uncover.
My only concern is that this could be a slippery slope to people having to decide whether to medicate or have gun rights.
This is a tough one. Not sure what to think as of yet.
Studies as well as anecdotal evidence (see university populations and leftist politicians) indicate that mental illness is not only prevalent but spreads by association. Anyone exposed to these groups needs to be tested early and monitored.
Bring back loony bins.

Well, since TN is traditionally a ‘red state’, I’m hopeful that this has good intentions and good outcomes. But only time will tell.
The thing thats always bothered me with the mental health meds… people act like antidepressants cause mass shooting… ignoring the fact this person already had mental health issues. So NOT trying to fix the problem isnt going to make the person less likely to do it.. theres my 2 cents on that
You can easily lookup the warning labels on any of the antidepressants. In your opinion, do listed side effects justify public concern that these medications make people lash out in ways they would not without the medication, or if medication was administered in proper setting?
Second issue here is the credibility crisis that Big Pharma, as well as govt oversight of Big Pharma are suffering. This crisis is entirely of their own making. Hopefully, the few contentious issues can be unmade by the current administration.
Same thing as the article says, could be said about drug use, shoplifting, violence, promiscuity, disrespect for elders, etc. bad behaviors. Is this a case of illness, or a case of bad company? More over, illness is treated by doctors, medicating, social workers – makes me wonder about purpose of the article! Cure for bad company is quite different of course.
Seems pretty straightforward: making the point that approval from peers is a strong factor in how people behave.
The article mentions word peer 0 times, illness 39 times, treatment 25 times, comorbidity 7 times, medication 2 times. It is an article of how doctors want to treat and medicate youth and get paid, instead of parents discipline their children.
Listed side effects on ANY medication is a serious concern always.. and sure if one brand is worse or something, i get it.. my point just is that taking away medications from people that need it, and working for them, isnt going to help matters…
Noone is suggesting taking the medication away from people who need it. But if the medication proves to be an issue, well… There is plenty of meds that can only be administered under Dr’s supervision. There is plenty of meds that make patients give up conveniences, like driving, or even jobs, because the person is not in their right mind while taking the meds.
So dont take their meds away, but take their 2nd amendment away?
Not like this. It’s a choice, between taking certain meds, and having suspended driving privileges, or 2A, or even leaving medical facility for the course of treatment.
You seem surprised, that treatment with mind-altering medication may have to come with some restrictions.
