Some people will never hear again. Back in the day we built a big big
hunting cabin on land sold to us by a family that didn’t even own the land, Anyway my friend wanted to start a hole thru the wall under the sink for the drain pipe. I don’t know what the hell he was thinking but he started a hole thru the wall with a 357 magnum under the sink, the rest is history. We were able to buy the land back from the rightful owner but all the kings horses and all the king men couldn’t get Jim’s hearing back again.
I’ve read many accounts from earlier wars where artillery would stuff anything they could find into their ears. There was no hearing protection, back then. Imagine being on the line in one of those 24 hour barrages in WWI with no hearing protection!
My doctor says too much coffee is attributing to my tinnitus. I’m looking for a new doctor. Artillery in SE Asia may have been a contributor, however. In 1968-1970 I never heard of “hearing protection.” (Did you catch that nice double entendre?)
