There's something special about a service pistol/revolver

Darned if I can define it. No matter which war it served in, there’s something powerful going on.
Maybe it’s the heft of a 1911, High Power, ex-Air Force Model 15, 1917 or Webley, or even a repro cap and ball Dragoon.
Unless it’s been hammered to death or seized from solidified cosmoline, the trigger is usually polished smooth from use, so maybe it’s that.
I can’t say that the M-16A1 fills me with the same feelings of fondness----maybe that comes from being responsible for the Company’s Arms room back in the Army.
Anyone else here finds service pistols or revolvers strangely attractive?

Yes. I wish I could hear the stories they could tell. :us:

I love the stories the patina hints of.

I was watching Bosch (tv series) and noticed he’s carrying a 1911, same as Longmire.
Beautiful

Are you referring only to military or police issue hand guns? Sorry, not sure what is meant by a “service” firearm.

Novice & civilian

I know part of the history of one service weapon I own. He was a Marine during Vietnam. I wish that weapon could talk.

I don’t wish they would speak , but I have wondered where the rifle I had in basic training is. I would love to have it man that is nostalgia colt m16 some units were getting the m4 but during training colt m16 a1 h-bar I liked the way the buffer made a twang when shot. All the knicks and rounded off edges ,it’s patina gave the impression of being battle worn. But we all know it’s from being in the hands of privates. Slammed on the ground from clumsy hands and flung from the narrow passage of the armory when dust covers weren’t open for inspection. Or hastily brought to bear on “fast Freddie “ the 25 meter target while you peered at the 250 looking for a silhouette. Or D&C practice because the dummy “16’s “ were being used by another company lol! They had us name the rifles her name was “bust round Bessie” now I know what my summer project is to make her over thanks for the memories guys
