The immigration and deportation thing

I believe I can say unequivocally the both the Donkey and the Elephant have ben saying for decades that the “immigration system” is broken. Up until now neither party has presented a solution by fixing the system.

Elephants say stop the leaks and then we will fix it. Donkeys say fix it then we can stop the leaks.

DJT has gotten us off the dime and stopped the leaks.

Donkeys have not been this mad since Lincoln freed the slaves.

I hate reversing the car, but I’m REALLY good at driving OVER stuff.

That’s the main thing I don’t like about Florida gun laws: no open carry, unless hunting or fishing (or going directly to and from hunting and fishing). There was a bill in our legislature to allow open carry, but it never made it to vote this year and they’ve all packed up and left Tallahassee for now.

Maybe next year.

I want to agree, but when I see who they elected governor and and who we now have in the senate it worries me a little.

And it should worry you. Arizona more than most states has to reform the way elections are run. It’s overrun with illegals and they seem to recount votes until they get the desired win…

Many of the “lefties” screaming about how we’re a nation of immigrants don’t actually know much (if anything) about the history of immigration. You know, like the annual restrictions on the number people coming a particular country of origin who could be let in. Also the tens of thousands who were refused entry at Ellis Island because of illness or other “undesirable” trait–and they were trying to come here LEGALLY. There wasn’t a system of automatic legal entry just because you asked the right way. We (the USA) was somewhat choosy about who we let in. Even if the criteria for choosiness varied from time to time according to politics, we still CHOSE who made it in and who didn’t.

I came from legal immigrants and my great-great grandpa had slaves first and then indentured servants after slavery was abolished. Times are different now, learn from the past and then get over it.

That directly part has always confused me.

What if I need to stop and fuel my boat while going “directly” there? What if I need to stop at the bait shop or Publix for ice? I open carry at the ramp and on the water, but have not wanted to be the guy to push into the grey areas.

Yes, I am familiar with the guy here in Florida that open carries on the beach and at the jettties while fishing. I’ve seen the videos, I don’t personally want to waste my time with the harassment he gets from the public and the Police.

BTW, I made an unusal purchase at the gun store yesterday. There was a Penn Senator 113H 4/0 reel on the front door sale table with a $15 tag on it. I don’t need it, but that didn’t stop me from bringing it home

I would argue that this is virtually impossible to know as so many on either side vote for their party no matter what. No research, no knowledge, just straight party line. If a poll tells me that 70%-80% of the population feels one way or another, I put a lot more stock in it that telling me something than one that is split 55% / 45%.

How to lie with statistics

Unfortunately, it is very common in this day and age.

I put no faith in polls.

They are always based on limited samples, skewed by people choosing to participate or not depending on whether it’s an issue they strongly care about, and often far too limited by the geographic area responses are sought from.

Yes, how a poll is conducted is extremely important. Sample size, sample population diversity, etc. all matters. WHO conducts the poll at whoms behest, usually gives us an idea whether it should be totally ignored, or if may have some merit.

For 20 million illegals, that equals 114 years.
Just adding to my dumb statements collection :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Assuming you have only one hearing officer, you would be correct. Fortunately, more than one can work at the same time.

Employ ten, suddenly you’re down to 11.4 years.

Employ 100 and suddenly it’s just over a year.

My Mother was a legal immigrant. My Father was the son of a legal immigrant. None of my ancestors ‘cheated’ their way in. Both were productive additions to American society.

You’re not wrong, however, who in their right mind after passing the bar signs up for a job that will only employ them for a single year?

My up liners came from Sicily through Ellis Island. They didn’t talk much about it so I know little more than that.
