Whether you like it or hate it, A.I. is the big thing, the buzz word these days. As a gun enthusiast I know the difference between 9mm and 45 acp. I know what a lever action Marlin in 30-30 looks llike. No A.I. in the world can “fake" a firearm in my eyes. So why do I care about A.I.? Because I watch and listen to news. Not CNN, that’s not news, but alternative outlets like X or Instagram. Up until a few years ago I trusted most of what I saw and read. Now, I can’t. Because I don’t know if what I’m getting is “real". The Iran war has brought out the worst in A.I. creation. Battles fought or created. Drone attacks or A.I. generated disasters. Speeches by world leaders altered by A.I. audio filters and recreations. None of it is real and it is not sitting well with me. I have an A.I. program and everyday I astound myself with what it can produce or fake. Paid Democrat influencers are flooding social media with disinformation. Don’t be fooled. Do your homework and know the difference. BTW. The attached video is FAKE >_>

We’re being encouraged at work to rely more on AI, including writing emails. WTH! How hard is it to write three sentences?

Didn’t this all start with the encyclopedia. We had all the answers at our finger tips. It seem like progress is taking us backward. Who knows what to believe?

I believe learning started with the transfer of information, experience and knowledge being passed from one generation to the next, which led to progression in learning as subsequent generations could pick up where the previous left off. Encyclopedias are a collection of some of those facts, and have been modified in areas over time. Periodic table an example, one whose expansion had me feeling like a dinosaur.

What AI is, I haven’t a clue besides realizing it’s in its infancy, seems to have a lot of bugs to be worked out, and judging by the ads, promotes an end result without knowing how one got there. I see the “base44” and “grammerly” ads on YouTube and just smdh. Elimination of rational thought and problem solving skills is leading us to a society full of idiots, and a few geniuses who do the inventing.

that is a fair point honestly. It really is getting harder to tell whatis real and what is not with how convincing AI has become. I think the best thing we can do is stay a little skeptical, double-check what we are seeing and not just take everything at face value.

The beauty of AI is if you don’t know what something is you can always ask it.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human intelligence by software or machines, enabling them to perform tasks like learning, reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making. It utilizes data, algorithms, and neural networks to identify patterns, automate processes, and generate content, aiming to mimic cognitive functions.

Which human? Ironic you only needed to copy the response that was handed to you, and call that an answer. No thought required.

Same here. Microsoft copilot is what our company pays for. I’ve used it a couple times as a base for writing a matketing message, but end up re-writing what it comes up with, and just never got used to the idea of not saying what I want to say myself.

Google AI straight from the search bar is pretty useful for quickly finding competitive information and product specs, without having to go find, download and read through annual reports, news releases and product documentation.

I’m old. I’ll keep writing my own words.

I think all humans have some involvement. We are all one people. The thought came in to try to find a good response when there was no question. The thought is in the communication. Respectfully.

Um, He was Deaf Brotherman…. Just sayin’. MOO! Everything comes with a Price, Technology is no different. We see in Politics’ the misuse of AI, we see in the Fake newz it’s ABUSE. I read an article yesterday a guy in Denmark tinkered with his Robotic Vacuum (we call ours’s ‘Robbie’) and tapped into 7,000! other Vacuums in his area viewing the interiors of all the houses. Don’t think the inventor’s thought that could happed huh?. The ‘Problem’ with advancements in Technology are that there is always a threat of abuse. Folk’s(Criminals) are just WIRED that way to exploit EVERYTHING! That is why in some areas they lock up the friggin’ Listerine! and Kitty Litter (Kidding, I hope) . Not being necessarily ANTI-Tech but we decided NO ’Ring’ cam’s, Alexa’s or Siri’s. Not outta FEAR just the simple fact that we don’t want one of our Cat’s calling 911 because we didn’t give him any treats! (SARC):weary_cat:

Yep, I’m the same way- no cameras, alexis, smart fridges, anything connected to my network. I do have one “smart TV” which I don’t trust, but otherwise, the only listening appliances I know if in the house are our phones. I have the TV configured to NOT listen, but, like I said, I don’t trust it.
