Welcome to the community @Russell95
That’s a good point, probably hiding in his car waiting for the fight to finish.
@Tom121 I think you have may misunderstood the purpose of the USCCA protection. USCCA and the several other self defense insurance organizations (not all of which are actually insurance) are all organized to protect their members specifically when charged with a crime after a defensive use of a weapon (gun or other). Some of the organizations also support their members in civil suits resulting from the self defense event.
To confirm, yes USCCA will definitely support members being investigated or charged for a crime in a self defense incident. That is the core purpose of USCCA protection for members.
I am not USCCA representative, so my answer stops here. FOr more details on precisely what USCCA covers, you need to read your policy and discuss with a Delta Defense representative.
Hope this helps.
Oh seeing you’ve been a member for 10years you’ll have coverage.
a guy that’s only been a member for a month or two years. Will have no coverage because you know the length of membership dictates the level a representation you will get.
……
And after being a member for 10years, I would think you would truly know the answer to your own question.
How could they ever pay your bail, if you were not arrested or charged.
@Tom121 This is a second and more complex question. If you are a USCCA member in addition to being an instructor, USCCA will support you following your own self defense event. However, should you be sued by either a former student or a legal adversary of a former student following your former student’s self defense event, USCCA will support you in that case only if you also have the Delta Defense Instructor insurance, which is separate from your USCCA membership. There are other instructor insurance programs available besides USCCA/Delta Defense’s. As an instructor you should have one of them.
Um…the USCCA isn’t needed until one’s charged with a crime.
Don’t you think you have it bass ackwards?
I kinda agree, why else would be paying for the insurance. Unless the crime charges at not self defense situation, that I understand.
