It was part of our education seminar at the hospital i worked at. The crazy thing was the security guards couldn’t carry fire arms.
I’m a public librarian and yes, we have had the Run, Hide, Fight training. As a concealed carrier I am not permitted to carry at work.
I was pleased to have the 4 hours of training by officers in the city. One even mentioned the USCCA course to get more info.
I have mapped out my scenarios and will throw whatever I can get my hands on if forced to do so and fight. One thing I do in a regular basis is talk through situations and scenarios with my colleagues. And, although most think that its too scary to imagine I’ve still sowed the seed to consider what to do should something happens.
Not being able to carry at work is very difficult. For one reason I feel like its best to leave it at home rather than leaving it in my car. (Thoughts on that?) However, I do not want to lose my job as a result of carrying in a “government”/ “public” building BUT it’s difficult. The thought of being in a situation unarmed is bonkers.
I’m armed everywhere I go, but in my job. I teach high school Science. I’ve been to every ALICE training class offered, plus am a former LEO trained in ASR. In my classroom are 2 Louisville Sluggers and a framing hammer. They beat ‘throwing erasers and shoes’.
Hello and welcome @Timothy330
Just for arguments sake. Lets say Amazon had a NO FIREARMS policy in the warehouse where this shooting took place. Being that USCCA s insurance terms does not cover the member due to his violation of Amazon Rules, and assuming member had coverage, Would coverage be declined?
Hello and welcome @Tony106 if you want a final answer I would contact USCCA directly.
You misunderstand the USCCA membership. It’s easy to end up with that misunderstanding, I know, there is a lot of false information being put out there these days
There is no issue whatsoever with USCCA membership benefits covering the act of self defense while violating Amazon rules
Coverage would not be denied due to breaking company rules.
Coverage would not even be denied due to, say, state law making it illegal to carry there due to signs that Amazon had placed (for states where that might be a thing)
You can see the policy here and note that neither of those things are in the Exclusions sections
Thanks, you are right, there is alot of misinformation out there, but, better safe than sorry.
Run, Hide, Fight is what we did the Marine Corps. Identify the direction, run towards a good firing position, hide behind cover so you don’t become a victim and shoot back until the son of a bitch is destroyed.
Welcome aboard, Richard, and thank you for your service
Craig, the part that gets my eyes rolling in “Run, Hide, Fight” is the line, “the authorities are working hard to protect you and protect our public spaces.” Really? That, and then the shooter walks into a building with a ‘no guns’ sign on the door. Hello! Anybody seeing this??? SMH
Hello and welcome @Richard913 thank you for your service ![]()
Welcome aboard sir, and great first post!
Welcome aboard. Now that is a great post.
Too many workforce places don’t want their employees carrying a firearm. I have retired but given the opportunity, I’d do it regardless. I agree he did it by the numbers.
Run, hide, fight is a strategy for dealing with a mass murderer when a person is unarmed. Returning fire is a far better, safer and more effective strategy, but it’s still a way to deal with the problem after the fact. The focus should be on prevention. Over 90% of mass shootings happen in places where ordinary citizens are not allowed to carry a concealed handgun (see crimeresearch.org). Amazon is a leftist corporation that certainly bans guns on its premises. Employees who defy that policy risk being fired and thus their careers. Doing away with dangerous “gun free” zones is the best way to stop these attacks before they happen.
Hello and welcome @Tracy48
I have seen the video at 2 different employers. Plus active shooter training by local cops at our worksites.
Personally I prefer CTR. Cover Think React. A group of people running to an exit makes for a large easy target.
Get others near you to safety. Then get out.
Hello and welcome @Dennis320
