“In the end” he was in a gunfight with an empty gun because he had a revolver and not a Glock 19
It looks like both were pulling double action on spent chambers repeatedly during this, but guard ran out first and took what might have been fatal shots as he was trying to run away with his empty gun

Matt, In a MILLION years I would never have thought that! This Guard did it right from the get, I’m glad you corrected me and the ‘cut’ belt. No 'Matt’er what he did, how it looked he survived! and THAT MATT

Ive been trying to find more information on that robbery attempt. It appears it was in brazil, so i havent been able to find a lot of information as to whether the guard survived or not. Looks to me like both were using revolvers, and due to brazillian firearm laws im going to asume both wete taurus models. Guards was likely a 607 or 608 357 6" model, robbers looks like a 5shot snub nose model, maybe 38, maybe 357. The gunfight ends because they both run out of ammunition as far as i can tell.

I think the term for the ammo you describe is “less lethal”. Batons, tasers, rubber bullets, OC are all compared to live rounds, i.e. lethal force. All are less lethal, not non lethal. No way to guarantee a survivor of a shooting. On the other hand, many people do survive multiple gun shots. Life is hard, then you die…and so it goes…

In the real world, in the middle of a fight or attack where everyone is moving, and the shooter is under the stress of a fight, it’s difficult to hit the attacker anywhere much less take a controlled shot at an arm or leg. A controlled pair to the torso (followed by one to the head if the threat does not stop) is about as good as it gets.

I was in Washington DC the other day. Interesting to note that there are security forces that still carry revolvers. The Air & Space Museum folks are an example. I wonder how much of that is budget, or that they don’t trust their guards with that many rounds, or maybe they just see a gun as a deterrent rather than something they are likely to use?
Temperatures are getting warmer. I usually cycle back to the smaller S&W Shield. But I’m forcing myself to carry the Glock 19 with all that’s messed up in our world these days. You just never know…

My guess is that a lot of it is budget, likely the same old revolvers they invested in a long while ago.
Training for revolver use is also more simple. I’m talking the low level of training and relatively low standards most armed guards get.
It’s more difficult to do well/speedily, especially for reloads and for hits…but for just being able impart the basics of operation without malfunction, it is shorter/simpler to train.

In that video of the shooting (above), I think from Brazil, how creepy was how the assailant crouched down low, behind a chair, like a predator cat hunting would, from the “blind spot”, measuring when to strike? Scary indeed.

Of course I wouldn’t know, but I wonder if the shock and blood loss causes such sleepiness, if so, hard to self rescue.
Interesting, trying to reduce blood loss and sheer willpower. I’m gonna try take some classes on first aid, and trauma care, to try and keep that heart beating. I guess for until the pro’s arrive.

One of my Brother’s Enzo was shot in the head in the ‘Mog’
Not a direct hit but bad enough, stuck pig bleeding
We plugged the hole and Israeli wrapped his noggin’
(No Morphine/head shot)
The first thing he did was take out a pic of his wife and kid
and STARED at it, He focused on that friggin’ pic with all he had
and yes we slapped him a few times when he eye rolled
we knuckled his chest a few times also (man, that hurts!)
and he said ‘baby, I’ll be home soon’ we saw his lips moving constantly
HE MADE IT ! That (23) year old RANGER was a tough sunufabitch!
By the way his other hand was WELDED onto his sidearm !
I believe if he was attacked he would have the strength to pull it.
