I wouldn’t call it avoiding facts, rather pointing out probabilities for an entire population.
The numbers would suggest that Covid-19 is not as communicable as some other flu varieties. Since it has higher mortality rates, yet fewer deaths, it would indicate that it is not as communicable, thus people are less likely to contract it.
This may help ease some people’s fears.
Things need to be put into perspective, which is not being done by the main stream media.
The fact is people are far more likely to die from a thousand other things than from this strain of Coronavirus.
Sound decisions are not made when done from a perspective of fear and panic.
While it is good to consider probabilities, and that is something many fail to do, and the media is not helping.
However, we still do not know much about Coronavirus, or it’s spread. We also do not know if people can contract it a second time and if it has mutated and what a second infection will bring.
We do know the numbers of cases are increasing.
There should not be panic, though we can not make people avoid panic as some do so every weather forecast for snow… even if it is 1 inch… they all run to the store for milk, toilet paper and bread.
You can provide the perspective of population and infection of total population but you must still provide the actual mortality rate which is the number of cases versus the number of fatalities… and remember it is only the current numbers, as we do not know what will be next week or next month, and it may decrease.
Brett,
IDK–my wife works in an academic medical center. They’re getting physician’s reports from all over the world. Factual reports are telling. Supplies run out fast, there are not enough ventilators, and yes, young healthy people are also getting critically ill (to a smaller extent).
10-14 days need to lapse. I think that then we’ll all have a better picture of the extent of the pandemic in the US.
The numbers don’t suggest that C 19 is less communicable-it is just not being tested for.
What won’t help the situation is a bunch of people ignoring the importance of staying out of the public as much as possible and becoming more vectors to spread this.
Thanks, @Aaron25. I am not suggesting people not take precaution. Better hygiene is never a bad thing.
My point is to not live in fear and panic mode. Many people could cause themselves more long term pain and anguish through decisions made out of fear and panic.
All of us have to make some changes to our daily lives because of what is going on. Some are things we choose to change, the vast majority though are due to the actions of those who are in full blown panic and fear mode.
I pray all will take care of themselves and their loved ones, prepare for inconvenience at the least, and, if possible for SHTF, or TEOTWAWKI.
Being spiritually prepared is of utmost importance.
God Bless.
