Smith&Wesson 386 NIGHT GUARD

Heard in some news that Beretta Co. is working on an attempt to purchase Ruger. I think some foreign firearm manufacturers make some good quality products as well.

Not unlike other products, cars, bicycles, appliances - I wish the iconics could remain US home based and continue to sustain U.S. jobs. I also realize it’s a financially competitive global economy/market.

Other than Smith Wesson, Mossberg, Kimber, Charter Arms; What are other major makers still U.S. based? My own humble few are of a “mixed bag” per se.

You raise a good point, and until this thread I hadn’t realized it had that need. Can’t go wrong with a massive steel frame like the 686, but, it’s heavy for regular daily carry.

Savage comes to mind, though they’ve had a major Canadian operation since they acquired Lakefield about 30 years ago or so. You’re right, though, too much of the American firearm business is off-shore owned now. When the Czechs bought up the Kinetic group, I became pretty concerned. I’d hate to see Ruger get bought.

Anyway, Smith and Wesson is still firmly planted in the US, and still making some very good firearms. I hope Buddah-in-the-sun gets it sorted out. It’s a great looking full size carry revolver, and should be a very reliable, good EDC.

Staccato and Remington Arms are still American owned and based as far as I know.

Its a shame American iconic brand Colt was sold to CZ in 2021.

The 386 is lighter than my HK USP9C that I am using for my EDC. The 386 is light but the recoil is manageable and follow up shots are easy with time on the trigger. I am going to save up for a second one. I feel having two-one as a backup it is a smart move . that is what I am going to tell my Italian wife that.

Quick update on the 386 NG.

624 rounds of factory .357 158gr and 130gr. I did shoot 20 .38 rounds out of the 624 rounds counted.

So far, the only issue is that the blast shield has fallen off multiple times. I think i fixed it this time.

With the new grip and rear sights, my grouping from 7-10 yards has improved. I am shooting right, need to improve my grip and trigger control.

Upgrades:

DLSPORTS Grips and rear sights. The grips look funky and bulky, but they conceal well and help with follow-up shots and mitigate recoil.
