I’ve never owned a revolver and honestly don’t know much about them. There was a used S&W 656 with a 6" barrel 357 at the gun store today. Every thing about it looked brand new. I dry fired it and was more than impressed with the SA trigger pull. It had been marked down to $599. Not knowing if that was a good price I walked away. Did I miss a good deal?
They sell for between 8-9 hundred so Iwould say Ya 599 was a good price
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!
I’m in my car now what are the Lat’s and Long’s! Be there by morning!
Gotta go, don’t talk on phone N Drive!
(But that was a ‘686’ amirite?)
Go back and get it tomorrow Brother, YOU WON’T REGRET it!
I said I don’t know revolvers! Yes, you are rite ![]()
I’ll be passing that way again Wednesday. If still there, will take it as a sign ![]()
I’d make it a serious point to pass that way again first thing in the morning. Seriously, that was a great deal. Go get it.
We’re all not kidding, go get it now.
I know that my 357 S&W is a very good gun. I love shooting it! I believe you will really appreciate ever getting it!

I appreciate all the feedback. My gut said this looks like a good deal. I have never had much interest in revolvers, but this one caught my eye. As far as I knew it could have been worth $200 or $1,200, so didn’t want to jump in and find out I lost my a$$ on this one.
I plan to call them tomorrow morning and see if they will hold it with a credit card till Wednesday. Then I will have yet another caliber to feed ![]()
You can answer yourself…
Do you want one?
On the other hand… you cannot disregard all the other members telling you: “go, get it”.
It sounds like everybody gets commission from this transaction… ![]()
Great price!
but when you buy it, be sure to get a box of .38SP as well as a box of .357.
It shoots both, and the .38SP will be both less expensive and less punishment on your hand.
When I take a .357 to the range, I usually shoot only one load of .357, then move to .38 for the rest of the session.
I have actually heard stories about people and their wheel guns…
don’t ask me to repeat em there too terrible!!!
(joke, probably in poor taste too…oh well… WAIT Jerzee, n Todd30, n Enzo_T, n Don102 threatened me n made me post that!!! HONEST!!! REALLY!!!)
I heard a story about a Utah guy who hated revolvers so much, so he dedicated his whole life to change the situation for rest of the World…

What you talking 'bout Moses? ![]()
Looks like I will be the new owner of a 686-6. The GS put it on 90 day layaway with a credit card ![]()

Now when your LGS has a 686+ (7 shot) give me a call!, I’ll wire you the money asap!
Awesome! Congratulations
I’m genuinely happy for you.
The good thing about classic Smith & Wesson revolvers, beyond the fact that they’re good looking, fun to shoot, precision pieces, is they hold their value. If, for some crazy reason, you don’t love it you can sell it and not lose money. You’ll keep it though.
That is true I bought a Chiefs Special back in the mid 80"s and sold it a couple years ago for all most as much as I paid for it.
Congrats to you, I hope that you enjoy it!
Good choice. Picked up a 686-3 4" (no hillary hole) for my wife years ago. She loves it. Ill admit, i shoot it more than she does nowadays.
Excellent handgun, probably one of the best 357 out there, IMO
S & W website lists MSRP at $ 979.00. So I ask you. Did you miss a good deal???
