Should we arm selected teachers or allow teachers to carry who have gone through specific training?

Welcome to the family brother @Gilbert29 and God bless you.

My younger sister is a retired high school teacher in Bandera Texas. She carried in the classroom. The school district along with many others held a class for teachers who wanted to carry in the class room. A mass shooting only last as long as it takes the 2nd gun to arrive

Crime Prevention Research Center (crime research.org) reveals 94%+ mass shootings in Gun Free Zones, 0% mass shootings in schools allowing staff and/or armed teachers.

Wow! I was sure this thread was dead! I know right! It’s so obvious what the right answer is. Thing is, especially today, a lot of these teachers might end up being the problem. Can’t trust the lot of them. They’ve all been through the socialist/communist training facilities we call colleges. Now a lot of them are so confused they’ve lost their right minds. Can’t trust a confused person in my book. I think here in lies the biggest problem. The educational system as a whole. I’m not sure what the correct answer is. I know! Let’s leave it up to the states and counties to decide and leave the federal government out of it. Let’s let them do their ONLY job being make good deals with other countries and keep our military on the ready and not bother them with matters that are not for them to decide.

When I joined the Army at 17. I was in an enviroment that I was taught to make decisions. I handle equip way more dangerous than many everyday firearms. It was said then, The Army doesn’t hire leaders . It makes them. But then again when I was 10 yrs old I kept my 22 rifle and shotgun in my room. No one even raise an eye brow when I would go to the woods to hunt or target shoot at 10 yrs old. Even went out with friends who also were trusted like me. But as some say that was a different time. My question is What happened?

What happened is that we need a shovel to find the bar in every category, so that everyone could meet it, when what we should have been doing is raising it. An average grade is a C, not an A+, but that made people feel badly.

I carried a rifle or a shotgun in my truck. I also wore a Buck knife folder on my belt.

What happened was the educational system was hijacked some time in the 40’s or 50’s and by the 80’s was fully counter productive and now it’s required by law in most places to attend. Quick rule of wrist, if something has to be forced on adults(parents), it may not be good for them. This country became a world power on the backs of homeschoolers and homesteaders. If a parent thought a child would do better for themselves with higher learning they’d send them.

I was made a crew chief on a UH-1H in Europe on my 18th birthday. I was crew before that but couldn’t be call a “Crew Chief” until I was 18 years old. Side note: Our Battalion Commander picked me up in his staff car at my High School Graduation, I changed into Nomex and we left for a mission…

Offer training and conceal carry to teachers, but of course not make it mandatory that they must carry, almost goes without saying. Allow it.

Cool deal brother, Thanks for your service :us:

Absolutely, if they so choose. If I was a teacher in public schools today, I would beyond a doubt carry.

At first I thought it should be allowed. The recent story about a nine year old girl accidentally shot in California, also appearing in another post here, has me thinking about the quality of our training.

I’m guessing police have significant training. But I wonder about the training requirements of security guards given that sad incident.

What can we do to elevate the integrity of this sub culture to combat such sad incidents?

Yes, any police department of significant size has probably done active shooter training. But an active shooter can do a whole lot of damage before the first police officer arrives.

I totally agree. Anyone who is carrying a gun in the schools for the protection of the children must be fully trained and coordinated with local law enforcement.

Welcome to the family brother @ConservPsych and you are in the right place at the right time.

At first I was against this, but as I think if I was to become a security guard working for a company, that the license to become a security guard is necessary because my role has changed as if it’s not just myself I’m protecting.
