Rendering aid to the bad guy you just shot

Yep, we all have to make decisions based upon what is known at the time.

Well, consider the “what ifs”

  1. He could do a sprang out act and still attack you someway or the other, even if shot and down.
  2. You might want to stay back in case his weapon is still in hands reach of him/attacker.
  3. You dont know if he/attacker has an tag along around somewhere, stay alert and watchful during such an unfortunate situation until the cops arrive.
  4. If he attacked you, whatever the outcome is his fault not yours.
  5. Be safe and legal.

1, aid can only be rendered to an incapacitated individual. Full stop
2, your safety is most important !
3 , after the person is incapacitated taken out of the fight or what ever. You literally have to think every juror is a gun grabbing liberal who believes you have a gun you should be so skilled as to shoot the weapon out of his hand and dis arm the person that way. Because our police are expert sharpshooters who spend every day shooting the petals out the ace of clubs !
Rendering aid shows even if half heartedly you did not wish harm to befall this person, and there was no malicious intent when you shot him/her that you literally exhausted every option /opportunity to resolve the incident and that the aggressor , the individual who you are rendering aid to did not take the avenue you made completely clear to them. Rendering aid can only be a good thing in the eyes of your peers is shows no malice and jurors will find it difficult for a da to try a prosecute a person who used his weapon as a last resort , and respected life enough to try and save the individual who tried to take his life. So in my humble opinion I try to keep my pistols as plain as possible no insignia ( smile and wait for the flash) none of that crap . Remember we carry insurance. We are the responsible ones in society , we did the right thing with training but mindset is where the disconnect comes in . The guy yelling at the top of his lungs in the middle of the street is crazy !
Same guy doing the same thing with a gun in his hand is now some kind of super threat ! Capable of mass murder same guy they just put a gun in his hand. It all in perception ! But it’s how they will think you have no empathy and took the law in your own hands!
