Range targets - show them off!

It’s the rifle that got me interested in firearms when I was about 10 years old.

Sears 410 single shot for me

This is the first shots I took with my Sub 2K when I bought it back in July of '18. I was at a local indoor range with a 45 ft distance. I had to adjust the OE sights to walk it in, then tore the center out.

This one is a year later when I put on the red dot, same range, same distance.

Nice weather in the mornings, monsoons in the afternoons. I’ve been getting out to the range at least once a week while I can.

Zeroing

I just picked up some new ammo, Berger 6.5 Creedmoor 153.5gr Long Range Hybrid for my Sig Cross. It’s the heaviest ammo I’ve tried, and has a great (advertised) G7 BC of 0.356.

First time out, the precision is impressive. Sub 0.5 MOA at 400 yards. I just need to move that group left and down a touch. Looking forward to trying this at my stretch goal of 2000 yards.

Trying to squeeze out every little bit of precision. My scope alignment was about 0.75° off level. That’s fixed. So I went out to re-zero today at 200 yards. I got about half done before the wind picked up and an afternoon storm threatened.

I’m happy with the final grouping — except for that one guy at the upper-right — I don’t know where that came from.

Back out again at 7:30 this morning to wrap this up. And I did.

400 yards
.93 MOA on elevation, .28 MOA on windage
That’ll do.

Up and off to the range at 6:30 this morning. The culmination of my accuracy work over the past few weeks. That hit is just 0.11 MOA off point of aim.

Good defensive accuracy. :joy:

That’s Bad Ass my Brother. I wish I could shoot 1807 yards. Hell I wish I could shoot 500 yards. My 65 year old eyes just ain’t got it in them anymore.

Thanks. 64 in just a few months, @Mike164. Counting myself very lucky.

Thank you. When I started this, I thought, okay, rifle, scope, bipod. How much could that cost, really?

But then, I really need some accessories, a solid rifle case, and a shooting mat because of the goat heads and cactus here in NM. What am I going to shoot? A big 16” steel gong (the one shown above) is essential.

And now that I’m going really long, cant is a bigger concern, so what about an electronic level? And a camera system to watch and record down range would help a lot. Adding a compensator is going to help with accuracy by reducing recoil. That’s nice, but ATF Form 4’s are turning around really quickly now — a suppressor would be even better.

Yeah, how much could it cost? (To be continued.)

But it’s like I tell R. “That’s just what it takes to do it the right way, you DO want me to do it the Right way, Don’t you?” :pensive:

That :point_up: right there was my ExWife! My gun budget is far better now that I’m single!

Priorities are different, but I have budget for them too starting next month!

A suppressor would surely be great for that rifle! Keep from echoing through the canyons when out long range hunting for mountain sheep (ram) or antelope (short pronghorn sheep) or any other game for that matter. :yum:

It is nice. Big difference in sound and felt recoil, even with 2700 fps ammo.

BTW, my Form 4 submission was approved in 38 hours!
