It’s something special when a book opens that little door to your mind
Andromedin Strain was the first book I remember that, as a kid, made me go Wow, I wonder if this could really happen.
I was at a Goodwill last weekend and made it a point to check out their books section. I picked up Tom Clancy’s Debt of Honor.
Clancy previously took me to Afghanistan with the mujahideens, inside a submarine, the Amazon, and the Kremlin.
Cardinal of the Kremlin was my first book of Clancey’s (even before ‘Hunt’)
I LOVED the old Col. Filitov and Mary Pat and what was her husbands name? Ed?
Oh man, I felt like I was there, my first intro to jack ryan also… I love that guy
(didn’t like AB’s protryal too much for some reason in Hunt) Thought he was a dik…go figure.
But John Krazinski nails it!
That Man Clancey knew how to grab you!
I LOVE Reading.
People should put down their phones and close their laptop’s once in a while
they might discover a whole new world! Many worlds! Justa saying

No step on Snek!
Agreed!
Even watching a well produced movie version pales in comparison to the written story.
Best example was Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Identity.
Ludlum’s The Parsifal Mosaic introduced me to years long espionage that started in Moscow and ended in Washington. That’s long before I saw The Manchurian Candidate.
Tom Clancy made me root for the poor Soviet defectors.
I think reading The Gulag Archipelago had something to do with it too.
I KNOW Brother!
The written word can hit you in the Heart!
(Tom Clancy Spoiler alert! ( Avert your eyes if you plan to read The Cardinal…) When Col. Filitov died
I was crushed! It was like losing a favorite Grand father! Grand father Frost almost Mary Pat was crushed also… I FELT her pain.
Oh, Go fly a Kite!

(Is it Lightening out?)
I read the book but couldn’t tell for sure if it was the event that’s Clancy at his best tugging at our hearts.
Without Remorse was made into an Amazon movie but it’s a dud compared to the book. Watching it, I didn’t feel John Clark’s extreme emotional pain.
I had the same issue with Gravity’s Rainbow ![]()
Munger famously summed that advice up humorously by saying,
“All I want to know is where I’m going to die so (that) I never go there.”
I would love to fly a Kite but I can’t run fast enough to get it into the air!
All of Tom Clancy’s books will keep you reading 'til the book is done. Personally, I like the one’s with John Kelly (AKA Mr. Clark), the “fixer” who first appeared in “Cardinal Of The Kremlin” and whose origin was told in “Without Remorse”.
THAT’S the ‘Key’ Brother, you don’t HAVE to run anymore!
You just wait for the Nuclear Blast and WALAA! Instant wind!
You may get only a few seconds of joy then you disintegrate!
But it’s just like sex isn’t it! Oh Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! POOF!
Git it?
Go fly a kite

Couldn’t have said it better myself
Yep, that’s where most of my learning came from. Goodmorning Wanda it’s been a little bit.
