Preserving American Freedom in the Face of the Coronavirus | USCCA

Tim & Joe, It is very good to hear what NSSF stands for and accomplishes. If I heard correctly, Joe is from CT and if I still correct, the state of CT has some of the most strict gun and ammo laws in the U.S.
Hence, is it possible that the NSSF can help and assist in changing some of the strict gun and ammo laws in CT ???
I have several gun owner friends that live in CT and they tell me what they have to go through for guns and just to buy a box of 22 ammo.

I’m not sure what the NSSF does as far as lobbying/government relations, but here’s a page on their site that might give you some additional details, @Judson2.

What disturbs me is the fact that, more than simply a gun grab ploy, this COVID-19 thing is being used as a platform by the dems/left from which to launch even more attacks upon the infrastructure of America, upon the minds of the people, to instill panic, read and predict the fear response, control movements and gathering, as well as communication, and inhibit the ability of the American people to gather in protest or defense if it were to come to that.
Under the auspices of this perceived threat, people are giving away their right to chose for themselves.
They are being completely honest when they call it ‘social distancing’ because first they are making people afraid of each other for what infection they may cause, so that they will not WANT to gather.
Nancy Pelosi tweeeted a post that bewailed the 3,699 deaths that this COVID-19 thing has caused. And while those deaths are indeed saddening and lamentable, with over 350 million people in the U.S., those deaths amount to less than .010% of the population. Yet, We The People are allowing this to dictate a fear response.
If people do not wake up and begin thinking straight the hostility and violence that stems from this enforced isolation will dwarf any number that this ‘outbreak’ ever produces.

I would like to say is im a law abiding citizen, until anyone trys to take my guns. IT WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER HAPPEN! It wouldnt end well for me or the person or people trying to take them. I can say this, before they “Might” get them(im dead). They will get 20,000 rounds first.

Welcome to the Community, @Jimmy16.

I don’t think people are giving their right to chose away. While many have short memories, with the elections just around the corner, they will hopefully remember how closely the current situation is to socialism and make more informed choices when it comes time to vote.

The death rate is low right now, but the spread is still happening. We’re trying to reduce the projected death rate. If we don’t reduce the spread our health care system will be completely overwhelmed - resulting in a lot more deaths.

Keeping calm and thinking straight is what will get us all through this without hostility and violence. We need to prepare for the worst but model the best.

I want to share I an experience I had. First, I would like to give some background of myself. I am a retired Navy SEAL with 26 years of service. I have lived in San Diego for over 30 years, however, in three weeks my family and I are moving to South Dakota. I had taken my son to P2K Ranges for some father son time. I had “green tip” 5.56 ammo for my Mini 14. Even though I had been there shooting those same rounds before, I was told they were a fire hazard. Which I did not believe because of my years of experience with those rounds. So, I asked to purchase rounds that were allowed on their range. I was asked for my ID, which I passed to person. He handed my ID back and informed me that, by law, I cannot purchase ammunition in California because I have a South Dakota driver’s license. So, I asked if I had a California driver’s license could by ammunition. The answer was yes. Well, California gives illegal aliens drivers licenses. I made a commit that if I was in the country illegally and had gotten a California driver’s license I could by ammunition. The answer was, “yes”. So I commented that a retired veteran, who had bought guns and ammunition from that very store, had lived in San Diego for over 30 years, could not buy two boxes of 5.56 (40 rounds). I was told that I was correct. So crazy. I cannot wait to leave this state.

I’m reading your stories and feeling happy to be in 2A friendly Indiana, where gun shops are considered “essential business”. I hope we can keep it this way.

Thank you for your service, @Paul144. The fact that a veteran cannot get ammo in California but an illegal alien can makes me scratch my head. Come visit us in Wisconsin! You can purchase ammo here and we appreciate our veterans!

We love, welcome and treat our Veterans here in Cali with the dignity and respect deserved. Some simply can’t take no for an answer. For the Navy Seal with the South Dakota license trying to purchase ammo in Cali who couldn’t because it’s the law, is pissed because he was told no. As for his comment about illegal aliens being able to purchase ammo in Cali, I believe he made that up because he by law couldn’t purchase ammo.

I live in Cali, has a Cali and Arizona CCW. While in Arizona I had attempted to purchase ammo, but the dealer told me he couldn’t sell to me because I live in Cali. I told him thanks and went about my business. The law is the law. I went to the Arizona gin show and was able to purchase as much as I wanted. I was even able to purchase a firearm there and didn’t have a waiting period. For the record, I went through the process, but didn’t feel good about that being possible. I can’t purchase in a legitimate store because of the law, but I can buy at the show. This same scenario plays out in several states. They are in place for a reason. He moved to South Dakota. He should be able to purchase legally, all that his heart desires. If I go to South Dakota, I’m certain they will not sell to me because I live in Cali. I could be wrong, but soon after I’m comfortable traveling about the country again, I’ll personally go to SD and check it out.

For those feeling sorry or disgruntled due to what you’ve read from the NS, do your homework, then come to your conclusion.
