Preparation for food shortage?

Patriot’s Pantry.

I’ve been stocking up on food and survival supplies from My Patriot Supply for the last three years. Right now I have 6 months of food, keep in mind this is actually a year but with my wife included it’s 6 months. Each day is 3 meals a day with a snack included. The food is very tasty and is guarantee for 25 years in storage. Also if there is a disaster of some sort and all food is lost, it comes with a warranty that will cover complete replacement. I also bought a water filtration system and a camp fire tools in case we’re camping somewhere away from home. Also added a couple walkee-talkee’s. I think I have enough to keep us going for a while in case China or Putan decides to nuke us. If I don’t make it another 25 years all this stuff will get transferred to our grand kids.

My plan is to live near a base that will get nuked and be evaporated instantly and not worry about it.

For food preps, if you can have a Garden or raised beds to grow food, a food sealer and dehydrators are great and very affordable investments. Having the ability to can food items is also a good thing to do, if you can’t grow food outside look at very cheap indoor hydroponics… I use all the above methods. Also having the ability to get/store and sanitizer water is also crucial. Don’t put all you eggs in one basket, if you grow food buy from store or sam’s club, or any wholesale club you have and process it.

Harvest Right freeze dryer is the best option. The markup on a years worth of freeze dried food would pay for one. I have 8 large totes filled with food. Beef, Chicken( 4 from Sams already cooked per batch), Goulash, Casseroles, Lots of eggs( 72 per batch), Fruits, Vegetables, Yogurt, Skittles and even Ice cream sandwiches. Add 150# rice, 4 buckets oatmeal and salt, sugar, brown sugar and flour. 2- 50 gallon water barrels inside and several ways to filter untreated water. A homemade Berkey type filter that is almost 1/3 the cost of a Berkey.
Do research on store bought “Survival foods”. Many of them are calorie deficient to get the days of meals they claim. Also research and read independent studies on some of these brands. Don’t wait until you need them to find out they are sub standard.
All my plans are for grid down situations. Hydroponics inside are a non starter without electricity. Outside gardens require you to have a years worth of food to get you to next harvest. Heirloom seeds will produce seeds for next year while most seed packs are sterile crap that is a 1 and done source.
Running 10# of beef right now and the same amount with spaghetti sauce is next. Thrive, not just survive. remember comfort food. It is a great psychological boost when everything is falling apart. For those here who also have a freeze dryer, I was packing as much as I could into each mylar bag to minimize costs. BAD move. Make sure to store what you will eat at a sitting. Once opened, things like meat, eggs and dairy will go bad quickly without refrigeration. I packed 18 dehydrated eggs per bag so now i am going back and repacking into 6 egg per bag to minimize waste.

Walnettos have an incredibly long shelf life.

Just a thought. :unamused:

I currently have a 6 month supply from them as well. I also recently ordered their Alexapure water filtration .

Just to let you know, they now have a stainless steel stand for that filter. It’s only about 8 inches high and was on sale for $19.95. It gets the filter up off the counter or whatever it’s sitting on and gives you better access to the spout.

I told you wrong on the price of that stand. It was 29.95 on sale. Sorry!
