On this July 4th how many of us have even read the preamble of the US Constitution? You need to read it and then read it again and read it again.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
How many of us understand what you just read and what it implies?
You should read the Declaration of Independence on the 4th of July. It is important to note that the governeds’ rights (like the right of self defense) don’t come from the Constitution, which generally concerns matters of government and restrictions on government action. The Declaration of Independence makes clear where rights come from in its preamble …
" We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
I just finished a 10 Week course called CONSTITUTION ALIVE put on by CONSTITUTIONAL COACHES trained by the PATRIOTS ACCADAMY. And they have classes all of the time. and being taught either in person or on Zoom. And I’m going to do training on being one of the CONSTITUTIONAL COACHES MYSELF. And I do know what the Constitution is and what it is suppose to do. And sorry to say that these days most of our elected officials in DC seem to have forgotten what the Constitution says that they CAN DO AND WHAT THEY CANNOT DO. Because they these days keep doing things that ARE NOT ALLOWED BY THE CONSTITUTION.
Constitution died some time ago. Don’t believe it, just go to any airport or public building and witness thousands of people who willingly submit to a 4th Amendment violating warrantless search of their persons by government agents as a precondition to boarding a plane or interacting with even low-level government officials (a right (the right to petition government) guaranteed by the 1st Amendment). In my little, rural Colorado county, for example, one must submit to a search before buying license plates from the Clerk & Recorder (who took an oath to defend the Constitution BTW).
This used to be the practice in the United States. It was fully expected that, as part of Independence Day celebrations, someone would read the entire Declaration of Independence. And the crowd was expected to listen to it.
I don’t know when or why we stopped doing this. I think it’s a fantastic idea. I tried it once; it didn’t go over well.
Also I found out a few months aga that there is a CONSTITUTION DAY. And it is on Sept. 17th. And that there is also a FEDERAL LAW THAT REQUIRES THAT THE CONSTITUTION IS TAUGHT IN ALL FEDERALLY FUNDED SCHOOLS ON THIS DAY OR DURING THE MONTH OF SEPT. I also found out that ONLY ABOUT 40% OF SCHOOLS DO IT.
