Not a preacher. And I didn’t even stay at a Holiday Inn. But I am an elder.

Our preacher does not carry. Many in our congregation and on our security team do carry, and they would have no problem with him doing so. He approaches it from the standpoint that, on any given Sunday, he has at least a dozen well-armed congregants who love him and our church.

I carry every day, including Sunday.

My BIL was the preacher but now is an elder. He carries too. We have lots of elders, deacons and preachers in our family.

Resident of Central Florida. Our Pastors don’t carry but many on their security team do and a few in the congregation. They travel often as well. My husband and I are waiting on our CCW as we speak, potential armor bearers. Formally trained individuals are encouraged to carry at my church.

@Johnnyq60 God, Family and Guns, it’s a good YouTube channel. He puts out a lot of content every day, besides being a pastor he just retired as a school teacher of around twenty years service. :+1:

My younger brother is pastor of a large church in Arkansas, near the Wilson Combat plant. He and a number of his parishioners carry, full time. I gave Keith his first carry pistol, about a decade ago, and now his wife carries, too.

Fr. Mitch Pakwa wears a cowboy hat and boots. Another priest around here wears a cowboy hat and boots as well. Then there’s the Cowboy Church. I’m sure they’re around.

My pastor at a Methodist church in northeast Florida carried regularly. He simply carried IWB.

I have my pistol in a shoulder holster until I am in the pulpit. Then I discretely place it under the pulpit based, where I put my sermon notes, while I am preaching.

I am a Pastor and I always carry. There are a few questions here so I will start with the first one. Usually I carry IWB with a sport coat/suit over it. Generally I carry at the 4 o’clock position. Depending on the context or events of the day, I may tuck my shirt over as well. If you have a quality holster (TXC, Tenicor, Tier 1, etc.) you can tuck over the gun behind the clips no problem. (I also carry a tourniquet, blade, and flashlight)

We have a few pastors who carry along with half of our security team. We invest in taking our security team to advanced shooting/combative courses because the reality of a situation would dictate more skills then just hitting a static target. Stop the bleed, room clearing, cover/concealment, combatives, etc.

To your last question
the church hardly knows about our safety team and certainly don’t know about what we train them in. Most of the church would have no idea that I or other pastors carry either.

Why? Because at the end of the day, I don’t want anyone to know who doesn’t need to. Why give up an advantage in a bad situation? As a pastor who wants to point people to Jesus, I don’t want anyone to be distracted by an “issue” that they may not fully understand. We are a fairly large church in a blue state. I don’t want someone to not come to church because they have a different view of guns or the morals of self defense. It is not worth it to me to divide over that at church.

I know what I am capable of, what the realities of a “soft target” are, and my calling to protect and defend life. I also choose to have discretion. It’s a church and that means we should be able to come unified and focus on why we are there. It is also why I think it is important for some people to have the skills to protect that right and environment
even if some are naive to understand why carrying matters.

Hope this helps.

I am a pastor, and I open carry on my belt or conceal carry using a shoulder holster and a light jacket. When we have major events I am in our loft taking care of the technological side of our ministry. So I provide an overwatch over our congregation. There are no problems with me open carrying or concealed carrying. It has been commented on by our congregation and I have their approval to continue.
