Leatherman multi tool
Its kind of hard to survive with just one piece of gear in your pocket but if I have a choice it would be a knife because you can always make things with knives such as other sharp objects. Second choice a compass in case you do not know where you are. Well lets see other responses.

Water filter.
Knife. Definitely. In case there’s cake.
Swiss Army knife
Knife.
Tough one!
Walter filter or knife? Hum

My light can obviously provide light to see but also a blinding light to an attacker, an impact weapon, the battery or lens to start a fire, signalling device…
Smart phone. So I can go on Amazon and order all the stuff other people mentioned and have it delivered to my location by other people I called and asked to bring my stuff that Buster Brown delivers to their house.
