Para Bellum speed loader

I saw this thing and wondered if anyone has any experience with it. It is a tray type loader. I’ve used the maglula for years and love it but this looked interesting. For those of us who are well seasoned meaning older and maybe dealing with arthritis or other loss of mobility changing the leverage point may make loading magazines easier. I don’t know if this is a solution but maybe.

Not directly, but others of similar design. I personally prefer the UpLula. With it I can fully load three 15 rnd mags well inside of a minute. It also accommodates .380 to .45, and both single and double stack mags.

Yeah I use the same loader as you. I just saw this and was curious and wanted to know if anybody had any experience with it. The concept I think is viable but it looks to me not something I would want to carry to the range but for home bench.

I purchased one of these today from Amazon. Curiosity got the best of me. Once I receive it and use it I will report on it here.

I received this just this morning and spent about an hour with it… remember this is just my opinion. First question is does it work? Yes but it certainly is not intuitive. Even after watching the video multiple readings of the instructions and about 45 minutes working with it I came to the following conclusions.

It is built well.
Not near as easy as the videos make it look.
The maglula it’s both more intuitive easier to use and just as quick.

Keeping the magazine and I was using hellcat mags, oriented at the precise angle needed is not easy. I was able to load a full mag 13 rounds using the one and a half stack spacer as I found out no spacer did not line up the mag properly.

There are a total of four spacers three of them dependent on the type of mag with a single stack double stack or one and a half stack. Double stack mags require no spacers. If you have a slim magazine there’s a spacer specifically for that. There is a rail for picking up rounds out of the box.

Because of these parts even though some of them are retained by magnets on the bottom of the ramp if I were to take this to the range I would certainly want it in a bag.

I really wanted this to be easy and to work well but I just don’t see it.

Sorry it didn’t work out as well as you’d hoped. Maybe with a little more practice, it’ll get easier/faster. Who knows how long the dude in the video has been using it.

There’s also the issue of hellcat feed lips are a little taller than a normal mag so I will try some 1911 mags tomorrow and see if it’s any easier

I remember you telling me about that. It’s nice that it has all those parts to keep track of, but I like the forethought of the magnets. Hopefully you’ll get it to work well for you

Now that I’ve slept on it and the frustration level is subsided I’ll give him another go today to see what happens. One thing I failed to mention is that these are caliber specific. One I have is for 9 mm and 40 cal so I cannot load 45 Cal in magazines with it. You have to buy a completely separate unit for 45 Cal. At $36 a pop that could run to some expensive if you have multiple calipers.

My final post on this subject. I cannot recommend this magazine charger even though I wish I could. Try to load hellcat mags again and have the same experience no matter how much attention I paid to technique. I did try to load some 9mm 1911 mags and it was easier but still problematic for me. You may have a different experience but for me it’s a no-go.

I just got a new speed loader for my 9mm. Just loaded several mags with it this morning. It works well, made by ETS.

Those interested me a great deal but when I called ETS and ask them how compatible they were with Springfield hellcat mags they said it would probably work but they’re not best friends!
