Some study time turned up this
I would trust my 45 against a black bear. I carry 230 grain Underwood +p Gold Dots. 185 grain during the summer. If I’m just walking by Rend Lake, I throw a mag of 230 grain ball ammo in it. But, this is a highly traveled area, with bike and walking trails that weave through public camping areas and near beaches. In the woods, on some family property, is when I go to my 6 inch Ruger .357.
Use a gel keeps a good tight stream and indelible dye. Get the big 12+ oz. can of bear mace. Keep all trash and food 15+ feet in the air.
Carry enough gun to kill the biggest predator you are likely to run into if you are going deep into the wilderness. Leave a call by this time # and freaking stick to it.
I just went camping a couple weeks ago and I brought my EDC with me. I definitely feel more open at night while sleeping not to mention any other encounters with potential assailants because you are so far away from anything.
And then I saw this and it aided in my decision.
Get the go to woods gun a Glock 21 10mm 15 rounds that’s enough stop for most game in North America
Nice piece of hardware brother @Owen2

That right there. ! All of it
I once hiked a National forest mountain trail (no weapons allowed). A Sow & cub rounded the trail coming my way. I retreated and warned other hikers. Not every encounter requires a weapon. t wished 4 one.
The same guns that are on my CCW as my state no longer allows for open carry,
I carry both my daily carry and a more robust IFAK or first aid kit depending on who’s camping with me. ~Dawn
(I’ve used the first aid kit more than the firearm
