October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

While a lot of people have loved spending more time at home during the last year, some people have been forced to spend more time with their abusers at home where there is a lower chance of someone seeing the signs of abuse.

Domestic violence comes in many forms and can be incredibly hard to talk about – especially with someone in an abusive relationship. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, approximately 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner, and an estimated 10 million people experience domestic violence every year in the US alone.

Domestic violence and child abuse is sky rocketing as a result of quarantines and lockdowns. And much of it is not being reported because so many barely ever leave their home now.
