Thought about it this morning. I’m pretty good at target acquisition front and back, 12&6 but I haven’t spent any time on an attacks from the sides, 3&9. Specifically 9:00, across my body. I gotta get on that.
For what it’s worth, I’ve worked on what you’re talking about by using an air soft that has weight and similar operations to the real thing. Most things can’t be done on a range with real live fire. Air soft gives a sense of reality and doesn’t require miles of open area. Just make sure air soft doesn’t violate any rules where you intend to practice.
See if the range you use offers the Shoot-n-Move course, or a variation thereof.
For my range, they incorporated both moving and firing at targets off-center, between 9-3
I’m trying to work on it using Mantis Laser Academy in my basement. Can’t say I’m good yet but headed in the right direction.
Any training you do is better than no training.
8/9 is hard as hell! I got a lot of body to cross!
I most definitely have to pivot to get an effective shot.
Always remember to apply OODA Loop to your defense situations. This way you will naturally position your body once you notice the threat from any direction.
Love my MantisX, In Fact, that’s where my practice will begin, tomorrow right after coffee.
I have a cheaper laser target … but love having it for when i cant get to the range every week.
I have been practicing the Center Axis Relock technique. Particularly good for shooting out of your car window.
I don’t get the canted weapon.
That’s for focusing one eye on your aiming system (sights / red dot).
CAR system never worked good for me
O.K. Still don’t get it. I have not had to canted a weapon since the Military wearing a gas mask and shooting an M4.
Thanks Brother.
I find that when shooting using this technique to the 9 o’clock direction, canting the firearm allows my right arm and shoulder to be in a more comfortable and supportive position.
