Needing a new Conceal Carry

Try different ammo. In my experience (semi extensive as I used to instruct Appleseed), Remington .22lr is terrible. Golden Bullets especially. My 10/22 was basically perfect on most ammo and had like a 30% failure rate with Golden Bullets.

Try to find a deal on bulk CCI Standard Velocity for that 10/22.

That’s what he discovered. He gave me the box of ammo to shoot in my 22 revolver and I think I still have a couple rounds left to go :joy:.

Pocket pistols with a hammer will all have an LPS occasionally. DA trigger mitigates the problem. It may be just me, but I think S&W could improve consistency of its manufacturing, that is one pistol may be picky and have LPS often, and another one of the same model works like a clock.

Here is my two cents. Have you checked these out:

Smith & Wesson Shield Plus - 13 rounds
Sig 365 - 12 rounds I think
Springfield Hellcat - 13 rounds and they have a 15 round mag you can pick up

If you like Glocks - the 43 X and the 48 are not a bad size. 43X is 10 rounds

I have the original shield which is 8 rounds and the Hellcat - The sights on the Hellcat are very good and I think I shoot better with those sights than I do with the shield. The Shield, Hellcat and 365 are all very easy to carry. More felt recoil than the Glock 19 but they are light to carry.

I love my Glock’s to me it’s the most dependable… Both mine eat and type of ammo. And it’s my CCW… My belt and holster is great. IDK maybe I’m just turning into a complainer lol… Just thinking of ease of conceal as well esp summer months.

If you are still thinking about 380, a couple of pluses and minuses to think about are 380 gives you another caliber option when ammo is short, like now, and the minus is it has always been more expensive than 9mm, at least in my experience. Therefore training is going to be a little more expensive, but it does have typically less felt recoil, and possibly more available at times.

Whichever pocket pistol you choose, you better do a lot of dry fire drawing it from your pocket practice. I sometimes carry a Sig P938 9mm in my pocket. After a lot of practice drawing it from my front pocket, I concluded the opening in front pocket of different pairs of pants were too inconsistant for a reliable draw. If I pocket carry now it is in the right rear pocket with the grip pointed toward 6 o’clock. I can get my 3 fingers on the grip, the thumb on the hammer, and trigger finger indexed outside the pocket as I draw with my right hand. My thumb is moving on top of the safety as it comes past my right hip and meeting with left/support hand. More food for thought …

Edit: I can also draw it reaching accross my back with my left hand if it is in the rear pocket, but I could never figure out a way to left hand draw from my front pocket.

The reason I’d disagree is because that means an occasional 2 trigger shots to get one bullet. That’s not a chance I’d personally take carrying.

Lots of varying comfort levels when it comes to conceal carry, so I’m not saying you are incorrect or anything. I personally would go for an LCR if I was looking for pocket carry. That way, if there is a malfunction, I get a new round to try when I pull the trigger. I carry a 19x though so it’s not a real issue .

G19 is a big gun compared to the carry guns coming out today. Your clearly not alone with the new guns being released. The P365 changed the game. I personally stick with my g19x BUT the p365 has a full grip for its size. I don’t plan to own one, but I have to give sig props for the design. P365, shield plus, hellcat; Taurus GX4, Rugar Max 9 would all be substantially smaller than your g19 and still be close to your g19 capacity. All are viable options for self defense as well.

Another option would be a Glock 26. It would be comparable with your 19 mags and maybe even the holster depending on what your set up is (don’t take my word for the holster though)

Have rented and shot the hellcat and 365. Much prefer the 365.
However I own and love the Glock 42. Lightweight, easy to carry and a real soft shooter. Great for follow up shots. I know it will continue to be manageable as I get older. (already a senior citizen).
Am also thinking about the LCP max.

I thought the G42 was silly until I picked one up at the shop. They’re really cool little guns.

@J.WoodSr Have you checked Taurus Spectrum .380? Probably about the smallest pocket pistol as far as size. Check out Ruger LCP Max .380, and look into Ruger EC9s 9mm, Sig P365 9mm. Very affordable with Sig pricier.

That’s a pretty darn good list all around!

Looks like p365 is the way…I do like that it comes with x-ray night sights as well and they are priced less than Glock’s by me. Thank you for all the info!!!

I picked up a Bersa BP380CC, great size and weight. I actually like it better than the 365 I owned.

I shot a p365 tonight and I wasn’t a fan. I also tried the hellcat and I hated it. I actually preferred the G43.

Partial to Glck 42.

Maybe rent some versions. “Unloaded”, try inserting in an empty pocket.

Maybe see how it conceals under your usual clothing or sweater. Some print more, based on width and height.

EDC? Save; If you prefer one over your budget, have your own back, and get it. That’s invaluable.

Preaching to the choir - as usual.
