Singer/songwriter Irene Cara, best known for performing the 1980s anthems “Fame” and “Flashdance… What a Feeling," has died at her Florida home at the age of 63, her publicist announced on Twitter Saturday.

@Wanda3 back in the early 80s, I was in high school and in theaters was McCartney’s concert movie rock show. I was a “good” kid who cut classes for the first time just to see it with my buddy. Big fan!

Ah, life was much simpler then. I was in college and didn’t have money when this song came out, I only got a copy when James’ greatest hits CD was released and I already graduated with a steady job.
