I can tell you what I did from CT to FL. I loaded all my stuff into a small UHAUL lockable trailer, chained the damn thing to the back of my truck with multiple padlocks and happily showed the Northeast my ass on the way out to never return again. You’ll be lost in the sea of UHAULs heading away from the cesspool.
BTW just did it again cross country from NC to the Southwest. No problems.
Under Federal law transportation through states is protected as long as the guns are not on your person or anywhere where they could be considered concealed carry. Trunk is fine, back if a truck is fine, lockable moving trailer is fine. That does not mean that individual states can’t be assholes about it but that’s a chance I was willing to take rather than submit to their BS.

Here’s another trick I’ve used a bunch of times. PODS doesn’t allow guns/ammo. BUT they can’t open any of your containers. You pack them and unpack them yourself.
When asked what the “heavy” boxes contained by curious folks I hired to help me move I just said “tools”.
I’ve moved 27 times in the last 30 years for work and personal reasons…

Like NY loves to ignore the Constitution.
One Judge quipped that the 2nd Amendment did not exist in his court.
Be very weary of Blue states, play strictly by their unconstitutional laws infringing on your rights least you have to point that out in court.
It’s like carrying where prohibited in your home state with a CCW.
You risk having it revoked when cough, you need to resist that temptation, or avoid those places judiciously, don’t reward them with your patronage, their loss.
Maybe if we all did that, they would take down those silly Prohibited 
signs that don’t stop criminals in possession of stolen firearms and don’t give a hoot about, that are a magnet 
for the BGs bad guys, and only keep us GGs Good Guys out.

If you do it this way, be sure to obey all traffic laws and speed limits Plus make sure all lights are functioning. No probable cause, no reason to be stopped.

Go Greyman Brother, You are correct. Speed limit all the way, no erratic lane changes, unloading your .45 @ Deer X’ing signs, Drinking a Pina Colada and gettin’ lost in da rain!!!

Even if you speed or have non functioning lights or whatever, unless there is something out in the open that gives the cops a reason ; the cop can’t search your vehicle if you don’t give permission. Those are tickets only and the cop can’t hold you longer than necessary to give you the ticket. But it’s still good advice to follow.
