Out of curiosity, concerning this Trump led foray into “Socialism. Are we talking about Tik-Tok, Medical? Or just “No King’s”. He gets called so many things by his detractors that it’s hard to keep up with, without a scorecard.

One of the things that New Yorkers are going to learn is that the bar for being wealthy is going to go lower and lower as the truly wealthy flee NYC. It’s a well understood phenomenon in urban environments.

With any luck, the rich will leave and become untaxable for NY. They’ll have to survive on their own…so people will have to get job to pay taxes to get (not) free things. It’ll cycle down to a new normal (not a great city with everything to offer) or it’ll implode and they’ll beg for people to return. Either way is okay. I was there when it was great. Hoping for the same for Boston. Another dumpster fire.

Sadly for all the good people in Upstate and Western NY, this pending disaster in NYC will land on their shoulders. NYC will lose the few tax paying citizens they have left, and the only way to keep the city from devolving into total bankruptcy and chaos will be to get money from the state. Who pays those taxes? The people living in rural NY that have absolutely nothing to do with, nor anything in common, with those idiots south of the Tappan Zee. I loved Central and Western NY. It’s some of the most beautiful countryside with some of the nicest people I’ve ever known. Sadly, the cesspool down south will drive what’s left of a tax base in the rest of the state away, and the whole state will slide toward economic ruin.
The vast majority of the people above NYC do not support any aspect of the current state politics, and Lee Zeldin had great support as a candidate for governor, but the D political machine down state was just too strong, and Hochul somehow managed to win the election (sort of like how FJB “won” the presidency). Everyone I know there is very conservative politically, and they vote, but it just doesn’t matter. The system is rigged against them.

Funny story..I have several…
In my and my younger brother’s single digit and early double digit years, MOM worked evening shift at a local factory. During that time for many years we were sent to Donna, our babysitter. Donna had 3 children older than we, one (Chuck) who still lived at home. Mom’s hours were 4:00-12:00 P.M. during which Chuck played rock, metal and “head” music while getting high from the home grown rooftop “garden” outside his bedroom window. So much so that Donna would often holler up the stairs if Chuck was burning something or if the house was on fire. Needless to say we would get entirely f’d up thanks to chuck’s second hand smoke and by 12:10 A.M. when Mom arrived to pick us up we were either already passed out or on the verge.
On a positive note I learned a great appreciation for harder, less mainstream music of the era. Hendrix, Stones, Zeppelin, Floyd, Cream, Animals, Redding, Joplin, Sabbath and Iron Butterfly were my introduction to other than country and Elvis which we heard ad-nauseum in our early years.
I’m a metal head and proud of it but Hendrix I have great admiration for. A true artist for his time.

After 13.5 hours on the road (850) miles today all I wanna say is ‘I NEVER MISSED!’
When you require THE TRUTH? I missed A LOT! If you look @ these guys the TRUTH (once again), without being RACIST in the slightest, they pretty much have that same LOOK!
Skinny, Gaunt, and dark (That’s why they were called ‘Skinny’s) and poppin’ in and outta windows and doorways they became a blur! (@ least for me!) also being up for over 24 hours straight in the thick of it anyone is seriously relying on Muscle Memory and Tactics just to stay alive.

Formative years and don’t regret them at all. Opened my mind to the good and bad of the era. The love I understand. The old hippies (me) standing on street corners getting paid for the most part to hold a sign and chant, I don’t at all. They lost the plot if they had one. Perpetual protesters no matter the cause. Buncha’ f’n burn’t outs. Where did their lives go? Gotta wonder?

Believe it or not Ripley, Back in the day just before 18, I had hair down to my Belt, played the Bass and sung that song and a few others in Bar’s all over Queens. (I thought I was Ok, my Bass playing was drowned out by our Guitarists and a hard hitting Drummer (Thank God) …and I was slightly inebriated every time because of a severe case of stage-fright. But once Liquored up I had the crowd (friends and family) HOPPIN’! I kid you not!
