How can Mamdani swearing in using the Koran be valid in the United States of America Totally sacrilegious!
In essence he is not beholden to our laws in particular the CONSTITUTION!
He is the epitome of enemies foreign and domestic!
He qualifies as both! Prove me wrong!
IMHO this is sick! It’s also the beginning of the end for NY.
Don’t let this disease spread! We thought COVID and the Plague were bad.
No mask or distancing will save us from this vermin!
I don’t think that NY state has a requirement or law that you must swear the political oath with your hand on the Bible. You could probably use a Farmers Almanac.
Politicians often bring their own Bibles or other significant books to swearing-in ceremonies as a personal choice, but it is not a legal or constitutional requirement. The U.S. Constitution permits officials to “swear or affirm” the oath of office, with no mention of a required text.
No Requirement: The Constitution explicitly states that “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office” and does not mandate the use of a Bible or any other book for the oath.
Plenty of individuals have utilized different books numerous times or no book at all.
“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
The thing is an oath means nothing to any liar. An oath only means something to the people that they are giving the oath to. If New Yorkers think he did something against his oath they can impeach him if they want.
This is pretty much true for any politician, so I am not sure where the problem is with what they swear to or on.
The easiest way to tell if a politician is lying… His lips are moving… They tell you what you want to hear more than a hooker.
This is a subject I speak to a lot: we need to stop fighting among different viewpoints and work together to keep the elected officials in check. They pillage us all alike in rights or money.
I think our left/right viewpoints are way too opposed these days. Media won, bin laden won, big pharma, marketing, government incorporated….winners.
Thinking about this today, having been alive during 6 full and 2 partial decades. The thought process, or lack thereof, of much of society will not allow discussion or compromise. So much belly bumping, and a federal government that reminds me of the days I used to watch Hulk Hogan and Macho Man….oh yeah! Half the country gets incensed by the thought of getting the US back on track. Got those supposedly worried about “losing our democracy” having no issue having a borderline retard run for POTUS without a primary. Found out back in 2016, as a dem, that my primary vote didn’t matter, ‘cuz superdelegates. That’s what opened my eyes, and my wife said “finally” lol. Potential VP and current MN governor supporting illegal fraudulent immigrants over …basically, folks like himself, though perhaps a bit more intelligent.
Problem I find with most leftists is they 1) make it their whole personality 2) let you know their opinion on EVERYTHING 3) get upset when you try to discuss anything relevant . I don’t meet many, but the last two experiences have been comical. The last woman, well, I offered to let her hold my Glock, and she disappeared into her motorhome for the next two days, never saw her again. Was it something I said?
Preferring the company of cattle and deer these days.
If we act grown up our opposition is what we have in common. We could get along fine giving our opinions and points of views. Imagine how much we could grow as a nation.
Personally, I think Trump should welcome illegals, drugs, gun control etc ..then let the Dems do the work getting rid of the first two and embracing the 2a. Nancy? Chuck? Bueller?
It the same as their swearing in and taking an oath at all. It means nothing. If it did, there would be no swamp to drain in DC these days. Or in most of the other political and judicial offices at any level anywhere in the country.
