“With the extreme dry conditions, any spark can start a fire,” he said. "With firearm target shooting, sparks from metal targets, a bullet or other projectiles glancing off a rock is all it takes to cause a spark and a fire.
Some of these Firearms fires are started by Tannerite and other exploding targets, pretty stupid to go into a tinder dry area and set off bombs if you ask me.
Most tannerite I’ve ever shot went off with a puff of yellow orange smoke, but no visible fire.
One pack of .22 sensitive targets though, one might have thought it was mixed with napalm!!! MASSIVE fireball that lit up the scrub 10-15 feet away from the target!
We got lucky and were able to prevent it from spreading out of control, but dayum!
I’m lucky I guess—Sand doesn’t burn. Surrounded by sand and concrete now we have to go further and further out to actually hit Mesa (Shooting Mesa that is) Tannerite upsets the Drones out here. ( each flash a gps beacon—no thanks)
