Good to know, thanks !
Is this a TRUE statement??? How many of the safes were codes shared with any 3 letter organization? It appears as though it was only one incident… really need the facts…although any safe or combo once purchased should have the combo changed!!!

You can put any combination you want but there is a master code put in by the factory that has nothing to do with your selection. My question is, did they have a search warrant for the safe listed and did they get a judicial order for the company to get the bypass code?
Frankly, if I die in a car crash tomorrow, the guns in the safe are part of my estate…. I memorized the code and destroyed it.
The idea that my children can access the safe in that situation through non destructive means isn’t all that bad of a thing IMHO.
As to government involvement,….
With the proper search warrant and my cold corpse!
Dial locks rule. Electronic locks drool.
Let 'em get a safe cracker if they want in.
Yeah,… my safe is dial!
Even my console vault in my truck is a combination!
Keep in mind those codes can be/should be at time of purchase.
https://community.usconcealedcarry.com/u/jackie_gene is correct!!!
Can be/should be what at the time of purchase? Please specify so we know exactly what you are trying to convey.
My guess would be can/should be changed at the time of purchase.
I can’t say this is true for the electronic locks used by Liberty, but remembering back to my days working retail management our Loss Prevention Officer had one code he could unlock all the store safes in our district. He told me it was the factory preset master code which could not be changed. EVER.
EDITED - I do have a Liberty safe with a dial combination which was a little more expensive at the time. As I recall, the same safe with an electronic lock was about $50 cheaper. I do not like electronic locks. My gun box in the truck has a key.
This is an old story. More details can be found at the links @BRUCE26 posted above.
They did not have a warrant or court order. It was apparently Liberty’s policy to give the codes to law enforcement agencies whenever they were asked to. Liberty supposedly has changed their policy since this incident.
But given their lack of concern and respect for their customers’ rights in the past I personally would not count on them to stand up for my rights in the future.
that alone is more than enough to keep me from ever purchasing anything from liberty safe.
I saw a show where they tested safes and the liberty held up until they dropped a I-beam on top of it from about 50 feet and it was then over for the liberty safe. Another safe was better and passed all the test but I don’t remember what it was but I do remember that it wasn’t a pretty’ one that had the name painted on it in a fancy way, it was just OD green and dull looking as a turd but it beat all of them out.
Unfortunately, this is not just Liberty. It is just about every electronic lock out there.
