Bullet points summary?
Best if you read it yourself. Donât want to be accused of slanting it.
What paywall? I clicked on it and it opened a pdf.
I found it to be neutral. If there was a bias it was for protecting the people of Minneapolis.
In New York Times interview, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian OâHara rails against ICE tactics
He fears ICE actions in the Twin Cities are undermining public trust his department has rebuilt and could lead to a âbreaking point.â
The Minnesota Star Tribune
What else is new?

There is also podcast version on YouTube that you can listen to.
âChicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling warns protesters in Chicago not to âbox inâ or âfollowâ federal immigration enforcement, in response to violence against ICE agents.
âIt is reasonable for them to believe you are eventually going to harm them,â he said.
SNELLING: Federal agents are agents of law enforcement.
If you box them in with vehicles, it is reasonable for them to believe that they are being ambushed and that this could end in a deadly situation. It is reasonable for them to use force based on those conditions.
Do not box in any law-enforcement officer. You are breaking the law when you do that, and you are putting yourself in danger.
Following law-enforcement agents around - the question is why? What do you plan on doing? Itâs also reasonable for them to believe that youâre eventually going to do harm to them.
If you ram any vehicle-especially one that contains law-enforcement agents-and you do this intentionally, this is considered deadly force. Deadly force is anything that can cause great bodily harm or death. When you plow into a vehicle that contains law-enforcement agents, youâre using deadly force, and they can use deadly force in response to stop you.
We need to be clear about these laws. We cannot become a society where we just decide to take everything into our own hands and start to commit crimes against law enforcement. It is a crime. You may not like what theyâre doing. I can understand that thereâs a lot of emotion out there, but that does not mean that you get to commit a crime-especially one that could lead to deadly force.
We need to keep everyone safe. Our responsibilities when it comes to federal agents-and Iâve been asked these questions-we do not interfere with the duties and responsibilities of federal agents. We donât have to agree with it. It doesnât matter. You donât have to agree with it. We do not interfere with their orders, and when they go out to carry out their orders, they will do that the way that theyâre trying to do it and in their understanding of what it is they have to do.â
I do not believe this is true If I remember correctly, ICE is not allowed to pull anyone over; they are not allowed to detain an American citizen. They do not have the same rights as law enforcement. They can only stop you if there is a reasonable belief that you are transporting an illegal. They can only act on illegals in the detention and apprehension of.
âEdit or addition:â __They have federal rights and can enforce federal law within their purview. They do not possess rights of local law enforcement. I thought this was a given.
While the rest of your statement may be technically correct,âŠ. That first sentence is not.
The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is a federal law enforcement agency under the United States Department of Homeland Security.
They enforce federal laws.
Yes, they do not have the power to enforce local laws or act like law enforcement other than what is mandated by the federal government.
