The article title is a bit misleading. Sounds like the National Guard will be working in more of a support role rather than directly assisting with the crime problem. It’s better than doing nothing, but not quite what the title may imply.

“The National Guard will not be engaging with the public, they said, but rather taking on duties that drain the time of sworn officers, like directing traffic. The troops can help secure crime scenes, distribute food and supplies to the homeless population throughout the corridor, transport prisoners, provide courthouse security and run drone operations used for locating suspects or assessing incidents, officials said.”

I imagine part of that narrative has to do with this…
Daniel Williams, policy advocate at the ACLU of New Mexico, called the governor’s action a show of force, not a solution.
“New Mexico already has one of the highest per capita rates of people killed by police in the nation,” Williams said. “History has shown that military collaboration with local law enforcement often leads to increased civil rights violations, racial profiling, and criminalization of vulnerable populations, particularly those experiencing homelessness and poverty.”

Well, kind of. IF the ‘Police’ aren’t ARRESTED in a HUGE DWI SCAM involving a couple of sleezy Lawyers a few Judges (Pay to Play) Scheme.
The Lawyer contacts the DWI Offende say’s ‘You give me $5K and the Arresting Officers won’t show on your Court date . Bada-Bing, Badda Bang Case dropped! Judge say’s DISMISSED, and you can go back to being the Drunken Idiot on our roads toot Sweet!

Yup, that was bound to happen. SO much cartel money, inflence and strong arming is what happened in Mexico first, and four years of letting them leach into our system unimpeded has had the exact same effect. Their tentacles reach further into our political and law enforcement apparati with each passing day they are not eradicated. Hell, I’m sure their tentacles reach all the way to Washington.
We have to act before their control is complete.
