His mother is an accomplished film producer and his father is a professor at Columbia University. He has repeatedly spoken out against Israel and refused to denounce the term globalize the intifada.
He wants to defund the police, stop ICE deportations and impose higher taxes on white neighborhoods.
He hides from his ethnicity as South Asian. Probably because that is an ethnic group with the higher median and faster growing incomes. They are immigrants from that part of the world. They come here legally, do well in school and work hard.

Government run free grocery stores? Just like Cuba where you get ration cards and the government decides what you can eat. When the shelves are bare or people will not buy what the government wants to feed them, I am sure this will be blamed on the usual leftist suspects such as greed, stupidity and counter revolutionary thinking.
Rent freezes? So how well have government sponsored housing projects done in big cities. Rundown buildings, high crime and local schools that have a low percentage of students at grade level. Tax the rich and spend more money will be the leftist answer. Define rich. Not enough billionaires to fund all of this so it will fall on the hard-working middle class to pay for this folly.

A key point that you mentioned is “their” presentation of reality is very whacked out kilt.
It is said the perception is reality, and that if you have a distorted perception, you have a distorted reality.
The far left, progressive socialist-democrats have a psychedelic kaleidoscope view totally different than our reality substituted for their prescription of it.
We are grounded in evidence based truths and facts while they are diagonally parked in a parallel universe in a place far, far away. Impervious to the logic of reason. Thus, our conflict lacks the capacity to become reconciled amicably.
It can and likely will get a lot worse going forward before it has any slim hope of getting better.
