It’s sad that lawyers have to be paid for this, and that tax payers have to pay for this.

The sad thing is they have the right not to support my right to protect myself and my loved ones. If I take their right they want to take my right and vice versa.

I am all for gun ownership. You should be allowed to have as many as often as you want.
In California, a significant portion of violent crimes involve firearms. In 2022, 24.3% of all violent crimes, and 71.4% of homicides, were committed with guns. However, the state’s firearm homicide rate is significantly lower than the national average, and gun violence rates among young people have decreased.

In 2023, Mississippi had the highest rate of gun deaths per 100,000 residents among U.S. states, according to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. It’s important to note that this rate refers to the number of deaths per 100,000 people, not the total number of deaths. While other states like Louisiana and New Mexico also have high gun death rates, Mississippi consistently ranks at the top.

Mississippi does have gun control laws, but they are generally considered to be among the least restrictive in the United States. The state allows for open carry of firearms without a permit and has a “shall issue” policy for concealed carry permits, meaning permits are issued to those who meet the requirements.

Sadly, facts like these are counterintuitive to what we believe. This is where data and feeling part ways.
What can you do, either blame something, or someone. Better yet, maybe inspire people in those areas. Acquaint them with information they need “educate them” so these statistics don’t bare out for the Dems. Maybe instead of fighting everything people start helping build something better.

Stats can be misleading. Take CA, alot of murders but compared to the number of folks living there (legal and illegal) relatively small per 100,000.

Now MS has a lot less so the numbers seem high.

Im all for constitutional carry, wish it was nation wide, I would recommend folks do take some kind of class to learn the laws of their state though. Believe it or not, some folks dont know you cant get shidt face at a party while carrying. Usually that doesn’t end well for the guy carrying if something happens.

It’s all about education

And don’t provide context unless a distinction is made between the law abiding and criminals.

Look and compare wealth of the States and their residents also.

True. Self defense shoot is still homicide, just classified as justified but still goes into the stats for deaths

Actually I’m curious on the 2. Your average citizen in California probably makes more but taken into consideration taxes, real estate, etc vs lets just use MS again. Average person there.

How far off are the 2 realistically?

Not far at all. The link below will show data, both unadjusted and adjusted for the cost of living. The data is a few years old, but still interesting.

That graph changing every 5 seconds sucks but I get the point of it

Did that for me also, irritating, but you can click/tap on “adjusted” or “unadjusted” to set it to either.

Now that you can get a gun, the fight now is getting the right to carry it. Also, if you can carry, getting the right to carry where you may need to use it most. As a former Californian, your real fight now is the gerrymandering they are proposing. Won’t be real good for your/our 2A if they succeed.

If I lived in CA (hypothetically) would that mean my wife would understand??

40k difference isn’t really a big deal comparing COLA for both. Politics sides, id stick in Mississippi over California

Just a tagline , I figure since my hero has one. I should also.
Yeah, it really is about education. I am glad you understood the point. Numbers don’t mean much. They do point to a systemic problem. I just hope that through education we can dispense with the left’s talking point on this one.
