Welcome to the family and you are blessed to be here.
I have 3 hand guns and 2 shotguns
Well, I just recently learned that ānewā term, cosmolineā¦and my autocorrect-spell doesnāt like this word either. But the time taken to clean allows you to ādate the firearmā before you āput āer to work for youā.
⢠actual Mid-2020 expected price range to invest in a complete SKS & 7.62x39 ammo isā¦
⢠got myself a Chinese Norico SKS for $459
⢠accessories missing: strap, clips, and sight adjustment tool, all add up to about another $60
⢠and basic ammo mix FMJ or HP: 1000 rounds ea. for about $300 ea box.
Total investment for new caliber firearm w/ 2k rounds: $1100+
Oh, yaā¦forgot about getting the clip-carry-thingy a person wears about the body. It can hold something like 20 clips.
bonus: I saw same SKS, but modified & having original stock at my FFL dealer. The modified allowed for mags and had the rail for incl. optical. (I didnāt ask to see nor price it, as I was content in my new purchase.)
I have 4 handguns, an AR, and a 12ga shotty. The shotgun is my āgo toā once I hit the sack, otherwise my compact 45 is always on me at home in a bellyband holster.
9mm stays on my side until bedtime, then on the nightstand beside bed with flashlight - then back on side when I leave bedroom the next day - also AR-15 close by and ready for another option
Almost the same here, just swap the 9mm for a .45acp! Welcome to the family!
@Bruce53. Welcome to the community, train hard and stay safe, and guard your ammo
Welcome to the family and god bless you brother.
CLIP ALERT-CLIP ALERT-CLIP ALERT! LOL.
Oh, yaā¦forgot about getting the clip-carry-thingy a person wears about the body. It can hold something like 20 clips.
I use a handgun for now. Iām looking to add an AR pistol soon to replace it as my primary home defense weapon. Shotguns are tempting but I havenāt made it to that part of the journey yet .
Thanks for posting this video!! Itās very informative about what different ammo can do. I usually have my FNS 40 by my side or my wife has her Remington 870 express 12 gauge ready for backup. Would like to eventually get a AR but of course other things (like my daughters sports) keeps me from getting one. Oh well I can honestly say sheās worth it!
Right now, just a 9mm handgun with high grain hollow points. Iām concerned about over penatration in my current environment, so⦠Although I suppose a 12 gauge or a .22 lr couldnāt hurt with the right ammo. No way in hell Iād use a ārealā rifle until Iām out in the rural suburbs as is my eventual goal.
Duh. The clip-carry-thingy holds 20 BULLETS, which can each hold up to 3 magazines, depending on the brand. get it right or donāt post!
Names of the components that hold our ammunition.
This is probably a good trap for me to get into trouble some, but
I only wish to make something that is easy, much easier.
The amazing and a great way to reload a rife in WWIi, was the famous M1 Rifle, which everyone has already seen or read about. I believe the reloading of cartridges was A CLIP. NOT A
Magazine. The famous CHING or high pinch empty band that I believe, held 8 Roumds of 30/06. That is the CLIP.
Now, on our wonderful Semi-Atuo Firearms, the cartridges or bullets are in cased in a MAGAZINE thar held several and different amounts of ammo, better than 8 Rounds and easier to load. but bulky in large numbers, without care of more gear to carry; range bag.
Please donāt punish me for only desire to help. The military gentlemen are better to help in many areas and thank you.
With the current threats of violence being made by a party that-shall-not-be-named (starts with a D and ends with rats), I recommend both handgun and rifle. Have multiple plans of āengagementā. As far as over-penetration, establish mental ālimiting stakesā for your fields of fire and know where your family members are located at all times. Make that 911 call early. For rifle ammo, use softpoints or hollowpoints. Know the choke points in your home and also the blind-spots. Know your bullet backstops. I would rather engage from the second floor downward with rounds backstopped by the front or back lawn. The closer you get to horizontal the more likely you are to hit a neighborās home (in my neighborhood). Also, stock up on fire extinguishers.
my opinin, the first step in home defense is home security. Window alarms, surveillance cams with motion flood lights, dead bolts, knob jams and a dog! If one could afford the price of ammo, firearms and range trainingā¦one could afford home security. If some unfortunate bastard gets passed all thatā¦
Mossberg 12G pistol grip, 18.5",fully loaded and chambered. Birdshot. Low velocity will reduce shot going through walls. Buckshot puts family members at risk as BS will penetrate walls. Birdshot will do just as much damage to the bastard. Easy to maneuver and damn near no need to aim. I could be completely blind, as long as itās pointed in the direction of the unfortunate bastard⦠game on. Rifle. Good luck swinging that thing around doorways within the home. Pistol and rifle. Good luck on getting the bastard to stand still while you try to aim in the dark.
Always in condition one!
Yeah & cartridges lol
Damn, wish I had an M-1. Everybody has an M-1 except me.
I dont either @John512. Itās on the bucket list though
