She shot him over a parking spot

Another likely incident where a car holster/glove box storage ends in a use of deadly force that was preventable. Car holsters are not good; use a dedicated holster and keep your firearm on your person.
Recent incident from North Lauderdale, FL.
Pic 1 is everything here, and shows the woman getting out of her car gun in hand. Prior to this, she and gray shirt dude had an argument over a parking spot. He blocked the spot, she wiggled into it, then got out of the car gun and phone in hand.
In pic 2, he walks toward her and she backs up and points the gun at him. He walks her around a car in the lot and back to her car, then he walks off briefly.
Pic 3, he comes back toward her.
Pic 4, she shoots him one time in the chest.
Pic 5, he lies down on the pavement. He was later transported to the hospital but died there.
So far no charges. But it’s early, as this only happened last week.
Now, I am not positive, but my “calibrated thumb” test tells me that she has a gun in hand because that gun wasn’t carried on her person. Maybe in the glove box, or the center console, or her purse. So as she has just had a confrontation with this angry man, she decides she doesn’t want to be without it when she gets out because she’s scared of the guy, so she grabs the gun from the glove box/purse/console and gets out.
That decision sets a snowball in motion that ends in an avalanche of her shooting the man fatally.
Is this a justified use of deadly force? I don’t know. It might be. If a jury decides her coming out with gun in hand makes her a provoker or instigator, then likely not. If the evidence is that she wasn’t a provoker because dude provoked the whole thing, then it could be. There’s not enough evidence in the video to say.
Now from dude’s perspective, he made stupid mistakes and ended up dead and that’s bad. When someone points a gun at you, assume it’s real, assume it’s loaded, and assume the person is willing to use it.
From her perspective, de-escalation, evasion, and avoidance could have prevented this whole thing too. Either of them could have just decided to get a different parking spot and go about their day. Now one man is dead and a woman will spend her life savings trying not to go to prison.
And I would bet a Benjamin that her coming out with a gun in hand was because it was in the car or her purse, and having a gun in hand rather than in a holster on body was a contributing factor to this all going to hell.
So quick lessons:
- De-escalate. Don’t argue over parking spots.
- Carry your gun. On your person. Car guns are bad from a practical perspective.
- When someone points a gun at you, believe them. Break contact.

I would’ve put a warning shot at the cats feet.
That rock right there would explode nicely, the shrapnel would not “hurt” the cat, (maybe maybe not 
) but combined with the noise would likely scare it off.
Plus, you’re not aimed that far off the threat, so if it attacks instead of fleeing, it’s a quick follow up shot!
Overall, even not seeing the cats behavior at the moment of the shot, I’m going with good shoot.
I had one stalk past my tent when I was homeless,…. It was after a deer, not me, but I still had my knife in my hand just in case!

Honestly, any injury to a wild animal, especially a predator is likely a death sentence.
Which is why most predators will avoid a fight that they think might injure them.

Mountain lion is very lean and does not have a strong gamey flavor to it. If prepared like lamb it is very good tasting.
