This was one of the most rewarding training experiences I’ve ever had. “Most fun you can have with your pants on”. I attended their 250 Defensive Pistol class in Oct. 2024 and can’t wait to go back for more training.

Yes I would. Gunsite has a specific method that is taught and the 250 is a great course to establish a foundation to build on. in fact, I recall during the 1st day orientation it was said their preferred student was one that had no formal training as “bad habits are hard to break”. “Day-Zero” is offered for their 250 course that gives new shooters a “taste” if you will of what the week is going to bring and is held the Sunday prior to the class week. I took the Day-Zero option and it was well worth the added cost, in my opinion.
It is a great experience, just go with an open mind and a willingness to learn.

I have been building a bucket list of things I need to do, and Gunsite Academy has been on my list. So, has going to New Orleans and experiencing the food. The idea of the Jeff Cooper experience would be epic.

I’ve been wanting to go there for a while. I like “sleep away gun camps”. I used to go to Front Sight quite a bit, which I was told was started by a Gunsite student who poached a Gunsite instructor and copied all the training from Gunsite. It was grossly mismanaged and went belly up. Ever since, I’ve been wanting to go to Gunsite and experience the original, authentic deal. And with a fondness for 1911s, what’s not to like???
There’s no better vacation than to go somewhere like that for several days of training.

I met some folks at a local gun range here in Vegas and they were talking about Front Sight. Something about a lifetime membership for thousands and access to all sorts of training, etc. Then one day, poof, closed the doors, stopped responding, etc. That land / business is now Staccato Vegas. Been meaning to go and check it out but haven’t yet.
