Grand Blanc Church Shooting Update?

A church member in Grand Blanc has stated that CCW holders within the congregation engaged the shooter as he was igniting an accelerant within the chapel there. Has anyone seen a confirmation of this?

Aha! I think that you’re touched on the right term for the “new left.” “The accelerant party!” lol

As you were.

Greetings and welcome, George!

I’ve not heard that, but it may be the case. Reports that I’ve seen/heard suggest that he was neutralized by a LEO. Occasionally, reports change so we will see.

Father of Michigan church shooter apologizes to victims

Father of Michigan church shooter apologizes to victims

Story by Christopher Cann, Kristen Jordan Shamus, N’dea Yancey-Bragg, John Wisely and Amanda Lee Myers, USA TODAY NETWORK

The father of a former Marine who police say carried out a horrifying attack on a Michigan church full of worshippers is apologizing in an exclusive interview with the USA TODAY Network as the community grieves and looks for answers.

What should have been a peaceful Sunday of worship turned into the stuff of nightmares when police say 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford rammed a GMC pickup truck bearing two American flags into the church on Sunday, Sept. 28. He then opened fire on hundreds of worshippers and used gasoline to set the building ablaze, killing four people and injuring eight others, including one who was in critical condition, authorities said. Sanford was killed in a gunfight with police.

Sanford’s father, Thomas Sanford, spoke about his son during a brief phone interview with the Detroit Free Press, part of the USA TODAY Network, on Monday Sept. 29. He apologized to the families of the victims.

“I feel terrible about all the families that have been hurt and they’re under the same crap that I’m going under, that my wife and I are going under,” the elder Sanford said, his voice breaking slightly as he spoke. “I apologize for that.”

Sanford said his son was a four-year Marine who served in Iraq, and was devoted to his family and his country. He wouldn’t say whether the war changed his son.

“He came back. I’m glad he came back in one piece,” Sanford said.

Monday, Sept. 29, 2025.

Meanwhile a local politician running for office told the Detroit Free Press that he recently spoke with Thomas Jacob Sanford. While canvassing neighborhoods to talk with voters a week ago, the younger Sanford opened his door and spoke with Kris Johns, a candidate for the local Burton City Council.

Johns said that Sanford ranted against The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and called Mormons “the Antichrist.”

“It was very much standard anti-LDS talking points that you would find on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook," said Johns, adding that he has spoken with local police and the FBI about the encounter.

More: What we know about Thomas Jacob Sanford, the Michigan church shooting suspect

Officials including Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer did not address Sanford’s reported comments or provide any information about a possible motive during a news conference on Monday.

Investigators recovered improvised explosive devices after the attack, said James Deir, special agent in charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Detroit field office. Deir did not say where the devices were recovered.

The attack was the latest to break out at a place of worship in recent years. Most recently, a gunman opened fire at a Catholic church in Minnesota where hundreds of young students were attending Mass last month, killing two children and wounding at least 17 people.

In the wake of Sunday’s shooting, President Donald Trump called for an end to what he described as an “epidemic of violence in our country.”

And as the Michigan community continues to grieve, officials also arrested a 21-year-old who allegedly tried to drive through the police barricade blocking the church on Monday.

I dont know if CPL holders engaged the terrorist. They are saying 1 cop and a DNR officer responded within 30 seconds of first 911 call and the terrorists was dead within 5 minutes.

Those cops were definitely in the right place and kudos to them to figure things out in all the chaos. Too bad there were still deaths but could have been much worse if the terrorist wasn’t killed

Don’t know about that but I can tell you this, here in SLC they say LDS Churchs are GFZ’s. They Aren’t. I’m not Mormon but I know a lot of them. They WILL defend themselves, even in the chaple. In the words of brother @Don102 FAFO….

One of my best friends for years was a member of the LDS. He and his whole family were the opposite of GFZ, and I’m sure they went to church well strapped!

The LDS Preparedness Manual I posted has a large section on firearms.

We have a Mormon Church here, but you rarely see them, on Sunday the parking lot is full and the rest of the week it looks abandoned. :man_shrugging:

Nancy and I don’t even know anyone that belongs.

You may know them but they don’t talk about it. I raced bikes with a guy that became a very dear friend, for 20 years. The only way I knew he was LDS is by the portrait of him and his family on the steps of the Salt Lake Temple he had hanginginhis living room. He never talked about church.

The father was found dead outside Abeona House Child Discovery Center, authorities say.

A father was discovered shot dead in the parking lot of a church’s day care, where he was waiting to pick up his child, Louisiana police say.

The dad was killed during a carjacking Sept. 30 outside Abeona House Child Discovery Center, New Orleans Police Department Supt. Nicholas Gernon said during a news briefing.

“I don’t think he even knew the person; he just aimed at the car and just started shooting at it,” a witness, Luke Gower, told WDSU. “His gun jammed, according to the homeowner. There I was, the next car in line, so I just feel lucky, I guess.”

Police said the accused shooter, 21-year-old Raymond Wells, took the victim’s car and it was later found on the side of Interstate 10.

Inside the car, Wells was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. He was taken to a hospital and listed in “grave condition.”

Gernon said that prior to the victim’s shooting, Wells was “up to something,” potentially breaking into cars in the area. Wells is accused of firing at witnesses before fleeing toward the church.

Police described the shooting as “a horrible scene and a horrible crime.”

Officials at First Grace United Methodist Church, which houses the day care, said its council would be meeting to discuss “additional steps we need to take,” according to NOLA.com.

The victim has not been named, but Brennan’s Restaurant General Manager Christian Pendleton told WVUE he worked there as a sous chef.

Pendleton described him as “a happy person and a great dad.”

“Nobody deserves this, but he did not deserve this,” Pendleton told the station. “He was infectious. He was passionate about hospitality. He was passionate about cooking, and … of the many things I admired about him… he loved teaching people.”

Mormons raise $300K for family of man accused of attacking Michigan church

Mormons raised nearly $300,000 for the family of the suspect in the shooting at a Michigan church that killed four and injured eight others.

The members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints started fundraisers for people and families affected by the late-September shooting at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc Township, Mich.

The members also began a fundraiser for the family of the suspect, Thomas Jacob Sanford, a former Marine who served in Iraq.

Michigan church shooting leaves at least 4 dead, 8 injured

“One of the families that suffered a terrible loss on that day was the family of Thomas Jacob Sanford, the shooter. Sanford leaves behind a wife and children who must be grieving. They will face financial hardship and psychological trauma as a result of this week’s horrifying events,” the GiveSendGo page read, which was formed by David Butler, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The World has taken a turn for the Surreal! We ‘Fight’ for the Crim’s and we let the ‘Victim’s’ Grieve all by themselves. I said this on another post good for the ‘LDS’ to raise so much money for the surviving Family of the Tormented Vet. We don’t see that enough. As for the MURDERER of the Innocent man just picking up his kid…well, LET HIM BURN, PULL DA PLUG!, Try coming back down here and NOT missing the ‘Brain’ line next time. We are giving way too much Latitude to these KILLERS, RAPISTS and Protesters. Too much emphasis is being put of the Blu-Meanie Demoncrats for their ‘Show of strength’ against Our Commander-In-Chief’.

In my mind these Paid Shills are no better than ‘Antiphuck’. The TRUTH needs to be shown to the Sheeple just what they were trying to do with this shut down. Show the MSM just how badly they are in the pockets of George Soros’. I KNOW we are WINNING, but we are taking to damn long while INNOCENTS continue to DIE!. This Church shooter was a troubled soul indeed but why wasn’t anything done to help or intervein?

Apparently he didn’t ‘Snap’ overnight? He was ranting and raving for weeks if not months! And no one did anything? That’s kinda chicken sh!t to me. I knew a Young Ranger in da MOG who BROKE, he just couldn’t take the constant threat of Battle. (It happens) we got him out of there and made sure he got the help he needed. We didn’t saw him off at the knees and we didn’t let him swing till the rope broke and he picked up his rifle and took a bunch of us out. Where’s is the compassion? where is the sense of Brother-Sisterhood anymore? Have we died as a Community? This constant battle with the radical Left has gone on too long. They bring NOTHING to the table but HATEFUL RHETORIC and Evil! ENOUGH is ENOUGH!

I’m being honest here that when I see a guy approaching my work vehicle I better see both hands. I scope them out (as much as a visual can do). Nobody going to get the jump on me if I can help it. This GOOF who shot that Father? There are way too many unhinged folk’s out there with GUNS! (Illegal Firearms and I’m not going to be a Victim if I can help it). And THEY (THE LOONEY LEFT) want to take away OUR GUNS! FAT FRIGGIN’ CHANCE!

Keep a clear eye Folk’s, the Country is in the middle of Great Change , it will get better but there are way to many nut bags running around trying to ‘ HIGHLANDER OUR HEADS!’
