Funny carry story

Joseph, that is F’n hysterical!! I can count on one hand the number of times I had to turn around and stow my EDC in the vehicle and return to the point of entry due to a magnetron.

It would never dawn on me in a million to state outright and then be approved to walk thru.

I carried a pocket knife most of my life, right up to 9/11.
What is a ‘short’ pocket knife that TSA won’t confiscate of force me to mail it to myself for $35?

None, though you can carry a small pair of scissors. I believe they need to be less than 2”. You can check that on any airline site.

But you can’t run with them on the plane.

Gonna give it to them for being consistent.

But yeah. :person_facepalming:t2::person_facepalming:t2::person_facepalming:t2:

I get it, my wife and I went to a BBQ bash two years ago. We left our guns at home but had my EDC knife with me. We arrived at the “security” entrance gate and was wanded up and down, they questioned my knife and told me I can’t bring it in.

I completely understood, so we walked 3/4 of a mile to the truck to lock it up and returned. They welcomed me back and started using the hand wand again. This time it beeped at my cell phone in a closed zipped pocket and they also asked me to empty my pockets. I said that’s not going to happen. Without batting an eye they said to go in and have a great time.

I guess they had no probable cause to check further?

We were both blown away by telling us to just go iin. Could I just refuse a search to empty my pockets at all events? Why have security in the first place? I drew the line at serendering a$300 knife by dropping it in a bucket along with 50ish others in hope they may let you have it back, if its still there when you return.

I have carried a knife since I was around 12years old. It’s a tool to me not a weapon. When I didn’t have it I decided I’m never supporting a event that wants you disarmed totaly.

If the event is that unsafe to require that action, I’m staying away.

I don’t depend on the Coast Guard to protect me when Im in the bay.

I don’t depend on the Police to keep me safe when I go out.

I depend on myself to be prepaired and have a plan to stay safe, always have always will. When I am made to depend on someone else to be safe I draw the line. No, we don’t go to sporting events either.

Looking back at the event, I now know I should have walked away. Not for not being searched but for a $22 rostbeef sandwitch not including a drink or fries.

Is my head on straight or did I get a hard bump on it as a child?

This is my European travel with a knife story:

Since having been employed at the company that had metal detectors manned by unarmed security I have come to realize that the Liberal Left is completely composed of the Lunatic Fringe. I was permitted to carry a 4” knife in to the facility without anyone batting an eye, but any hint of a gun by anyone even security was a major no no,

A number of years ago we went to a bourbon and beer event. I kept my firearm locked, but the event did not have any notice that knives were not allowed. We stayed at a B&B that was about 15-20 minute walk from the event.

As we got near the gate, I saw they were wanding the men, but avoiding the crotch as many were wearing belts with large metal buckles. I was carrying a knife, and was not going to walk over a half-hour back and forth to secure my knife. I tucked my knife behind my belt buckle and passed through security unimpeded.

Unarmed policing the armed.

If the company made submarines they would have screen doors.

Yeah, not my kinda bash if there is security involved.

I thought it was traditional at BBQ events to open carry a fancy, engraved or rare gun in high end leather, not disarm!

Your head is just fine My Good Sir.
‘Security is Hit and Miss’ because the quality of the Guards is Hit and miss.
The only thing I have to say is when there is a RULE/Signage in place of an EVENT that Sign takes precedence to what They as Guards have to follow. It doesn’t HAVE to make sense—It is what it is and in order for them to KEEP their Jobs as STUPID as what they are ordered to follow most Guards will stick to the program (even if they themselves find it idiotic)
As a Former Level3 Guard I can categorically state the Hodge Podge of crazy rules is the main reason I left.
(Lets not talk about the other reasons @ this time and muddy the waters of just how Insane Companies and Politics can drive an Honest Guard to working @ Stuckey’s! :face_with_spiral_eyes:)
And just to clarify what you stated—You may not DEPEND on Da Policia, Coast Guard, or other Agencies or branches of LAW ENFORCEMENT to keep you and yours SAFE AND ALIVE but even with your resistance they will gladly do it anyway because that is WHO THEY ARE and WHAT THEY SIGNED UP FOR and TOOK THE OATH to Protect and Serve. Many a WARRIOR has died defending us and this Country and they deserve our RESPECT and Admiration (Yes, some bad apples get through that’s life)
You may not like being disarmed in a Public Event (Who does?) but because this is America you also have the choice NOT TO GO.

I got stopped by TSA with a tiny little pen knife. I knew better but simply forgot. The TSA dude was a knife collector and said it was a collectible and worth a lot of money. Funny cause I paid $5 at a yard sale!!

My wife had dropped me off. Call her to turn around. Left it in an envelope at the ticket counter so she could get it.

GOD I LOVE LIVING IN NEW HAMPSHIRE :slightly_smiling_face:

TSA uniformed employees are not and have never been armed. They are not law enforcement officers, no matter how similar to one their uniforms look; they are security screeners. They have to summon local police officers for help if they have a problem requiring legal action or use of force.

Last year I had to wait for local police to come to a small airport (none were on duty there) when a TSA back room bag screener thought the SIRT laser training pistol in my checked bag was a real gun.

UNARMED SECURITY IS AN OXY-MORON. My opinion is buy a couple of Mannequins, get uniforms that fit well and place them @ the front door with ‘Nerf’ swimming tubes on the sides (Neon Green looks nice!) and you will have just as much ‘Security’ than with some of the Fools and Criminals they hire today.
Dateline Albuquerque:: A ‘Guard’ shot a shop lifter in the head (Twice) for stealing less than $100 worth of costumes. He said he fired after trying to ‘Hold for Police’ and the Crim started handing him his arse!. So he killed him.
Oh wait! That wasn’t very phunnie----I was @ a Craft show yesterday and this Big guy was in the Bathroom stall next to me, He dropped Trou and his firearm fell outta his Pants (NO HOLSTER).
Pants around his ankles he asked (nicely) ‘Can I have my Gun back please?’—I checked the pipe…yep, a round stuffed in there.
I’m really starting to worry about just how many folk’s buy guns and have zero training out there…
I handed it back to him after he washed his hands and I said ‘Try and be more careful huh?’
Naturally he got snippy as he stuffed it in his waste band he said ‘I’m a guard, I know what I’m doing’… Now THAT was phunnie!
