Call 911, tell them to get bent through the camera while remaining behind COVER from their angle of fire.
If theyâre stupid enough to try and make entry to my house, or if they start firing, all bets are off.
I have the tactical advantage, I can move to cover in my garage, or to the window on the other side of the door and engage without having to shoot through my steel security door.
Everything has a certain amount of risk, far and away the safest route is let them have the car.
But im also looking at the gun, the drum mag, and the fact that he couldnât even hold it at ready!
So Glock with a switch, he will be out of ammo quickly, and likely spray half the bullets into the brick facade if he canât hold it steady while NOT firing it.
Meanwhile im in my garage with my .308 Tavor sheltered behind my toolbox using my cameras to estimate his exact position on the other side of that lightweight aluminum garage door!

Unfortunately doors are the least understandable part of home defense.
Each of us has to read carefully local law and adjust to it.
In my State (IL) doors are not my friend. But I made them to be my friend.
I replaced every door to reinforced fiberglass with triple hinges and locking mechanism. Doors cannot be opened with handle without key and if somebody tries to use force to open them⊠it will take about 10 minutes to realize it doesnât make sense to continue.
It is enough time to find out what is going on, arm myself and call 911.
As for shooting through the door⊠as long the assailant is outside, I donât care (and I cannot legally shoot). If he is outside and shoots, that the different story⊠but I probably still donât shoot, taking the cover.
The only moment I shoot is if the assailant is inside my house after he forceably opened the door. I can legally shoot and stop the thread. Not through the door, but next to the door, knowing
on which side of the door the assailant is at the moment.

I have a steel âscreen doorâ and then a steel door at my front door. I put armor concept stuff on my side garage door and my back door. Although not totally impenetrable, it should give me sufficient time to get prepared.

Here in Texas, if he shoots through the door first, I have the legal right to return fire. But if and when I do return fire, I have the legal obligation to know where those rounds are going. If I am shooting blindly through a solid front door, I have no idea where those rounds are going. I might hit him. I might hit the neighborâs dog. I might hit the neighbor.
If he shoots through the door, Iâm going for a window so I can SEE him. He might be able to see me also, but he might not.
From my kitchen window I can see the entire driveway. My house is pier and beam and approximately three feet higher than ground level, so I am looking down at the driveway. There is no cover or concealment for a bad guy in my driveway except my vehicle. I have concealment on my side in the form of the walls and soft cover with kitchen cabinets. Any rounds I fire from my kitchen window will be angled down. Most bad guys trying to steal a car in the middle of the night arenât thinking about where a homeowner might be in relation to cover or concealment and will shoot through the window. Those rounds will go up and through the ceiling.

That scenario sounds more like using deadly force to protect property, not life. If you use deadly force when no person is threatened, you are likely to be prosecuted, even in a conservative state.

If one reads only the last paragraph of my post, it may seem I am only attempting to protect property when I have not yet been threatened. If one adds in the two line paragraph preceding the last paragraph, my intent is explained, maybe not as clear as I had intended, but more clear than me just shooting because he is in my driveway.

In Illinois lethal force is authorized against violent or tumultuous attempts to enter a home. This is an affirmative defense in court if charges are brought. An affirmative defense is a legal strategy where a defendant admits to committing the act but presents additional facts that justify or excuse their behavior, potentially leading to acquittal. Common examples include self-defense, insanity, and duress.
The ubiquitous âI believed my life was threatenedâ will work if you can explain the fear and the threat is evident.
My back door is backed up my my detached garage and my vehicle. The front door is more problematic in the summertime when the Drive thru line at the DQ is open. The DQ is closed during the winter.

A True Conundrum indeedâŠ
My First response is I dislike âColonâ and his Vidâs becoming an Ad for USCCA. I liked the earlier vidâs where he said his piece and then mentioned his sponsorships, today he is just another mouth piece. He lost his Independence.
My second thought is the dik with the Glock doesnât concern me, He can shoot all he wants but Pistol rounds will not penetrate my Steel doors so his Threat is negated. I WILL NOT SHOOT through my doors for the same reason.
Edit: If he/They start shooting up my house, through my windows, trying to breech (2-3) Points of entry at the same time they are DRT. Just so weâre clear.
My Vehicle(s) are precious to me but they are things that are replaceable (Costly? YES! but replaceable) Take the Car. Hopefully LEOâs can trace the GPS I installed and I get it back after they use it in a Street takeover and abandon it. Whatever.
Now that I do not have the shaky USCCA âProtectionâ I operate differently

You Breach my defenses (Yes, anything is possible) itâs WEAPONS FREE and any Jury even a Leftist Judge will KNOW/SEE I held fire until they were deep in my DOMAIN. Anybody even with a severe case of TDS will shudder at how long I withheld fire and then emptied the Mag on those unfortunate Souls.
By the way I now have THEFT on all my rides since I upgraded my Insurance(s) and Vehicles so take the car/Truck I am NOT getting into these ridiculous Court Battles over an Object. I donât care what the âLegalitiesâ are of what I am âALLOWEDâ to do in my State. These Courts out here are Crooked and Corrupt (and Prejudice to White folkâs) No Thank you.

Bruce E Yes Sir i Live in Texas and we can Drop any one on our property just for threatening us that said any ANY ONE I SHOOT . I will Have them in my SIGHTS. !! I never want to Shoot anyone INNOCENT. With my Magnumâs so I will see them Before I Return Fire if im not Bleeding out!! I can get out of my Home through the Floor and the Roof. so more than likely I will be out side with the Shooter. PDQ. Hereâs ya a Root Beer
