Gun vs Door

It is late at night, and you hear a knock on your door. You go to the door, but you do not open your door because you are too smart to open your door just because someone is knocking on your door. How safe are you now? Are you safe behind your door?

Are you just on the other side of the door? You might want to re-think where you stand.

Then you are in your home and the intruder made it into your home. You are standing in the other room. Are you safe?

The bad guy is around the corner of your room, are you safe?

For me, the idea of shooting through doors has become a critical part of our HD plan. It’s just the wife and me, so I know, if anyone else is in the house at 02:00 they constitute a deadly threat by their presence and need to be stopped.

If someone is outside my bedroom door, I know that they are boxed into a small landing at the top of the stairs. I’m not waiting for that door to open, I plan on putting about 10 rounds of M193 5.56 through the door, then wait.

Doors aren’t cover, but they are concealment, and we can use that to our advantage in our own homes.

It is an interesting problem when we live in a world with police who may break in thinking they’re after a bad guy and have the wrong house
or a neighbor who is checking on someone. As Batman would say
Ka-Blam!

If I remember correctly, 5.56 did not penetrate the hurricane impact windows during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting. My exterior doors have 7/16" double pane glass that goes from edge to edge with a vinyl picture frame on both sides. I wish he would have tested some of those.

He’s on YT, white to him. I’ve had many responses to posters there.

If someone is pounding on my door at Oh-Dark-Thirty, they best have theirs with them because I already have mine. I’m crouched down behind the end of the couch and The Wife will be behind me wrangling boys into the master bedroom and accessing the safe.

I don’t open the door at night.

I agree with this statement. Everything in your home defense arsenal will most likely penetrate a door or wall in your home. I say “most likely” because there could be a few folks out there using a paintball gun or sling shot in their home defense arsenal.

I’ve shot 1/4” mild steel plates with standard m55 ball at 50 yards and seen the holes

I suppose, maybe,
if those windows are built like bulletproof glass, layered up with vinyl in between then maybe?.. it would stop that round?

But the video isn’t about testing glass
it was about testing average doors.

Personally, I’ve seen enough of these kinds of videos that I know any stick built house is basically a fish barrel.

If you know where to shoot you probably won’t miss.

No interior or exterior wall will stop a bullet, unless it directly hits a 4x4 or the long dimension of a 2x4!
. And even then it may only deflect and continue on.

So unless you live in a house built out of solid brick, exterior,
 and INTERIOR walls,
 with concrete floors
do not assume your rounds won’t hit your neighbors!!!

IF the BG’s are on the Outside and they stay outside? THEY LIVE.
I WILL NOT SHOOT Threw my door(s)
*Outer is Hurricane glass/Metal
*Inner Solid Wood and Sheet Steel. (NOT pressboard)
Also Crossbeam steel and handmade ‘Hooks’ across center of Inner door.
IF I’m not physically threatened? I hold fire till they come in.
If they do break in they face a wall of DEATH. .44’s Center Mass! or HEAD.
(Hope they have I.D. in their pocket to Identify)
Absolutely different story if the attempt entrance through any windows or back
Patio doors. Buh-Bye.

(2) Reason’s I won’t shoot—Neighbor’s across from door are Axxhole
Dumbocrats but they Sue everybody they can for a hangnail.
Their Stucco/Window’s, Front door get ‘dinged’ I’m in Court.
Second: Sister/Myself not physically threatened? I won’t shoot.
Courts (again) out here SUCK! We’d be Vilified! Don’t need that noise.
You have to be broken and bleeding to win a Self-D case in New Mexico.

Been there done that,
NOT doing that again.
If house sustains damage cause they’re frustrated they can’t get in I’ll
be pissed, but I can live with that.
(yes, I’ve thought about this already).

The fact that you will not shoot is smart but, then there is them. They could and that was my point. Even in the house, you are hidden but still not safe. How many people have been shot by a stray bullet from someone shooting at a house? Just a thought to think about.

My Bad Brother
 YOU ARE CORRECT.
I did not, do not intend to stand in anyone’s Gun sites!
I have a plan for that also.
I built my house with such a plan in mind
My ‘Foyer’ is a KILL SACK. (If they penetrate my Defenses.
But I won’t be by a window or door if an attack comes @ Us.
I KNOW WHERE EVERY ROUND OF MINE WILL GO
and an Innocent will not be harmed. God willing.
IF they attack my house their lead will hopefully be absorbed by empty walls .
No one knows in a gunfight what will happen to every round but I’ve
done my best to protect my surrounding neighbors and ourselves.
I put in a medium size window facing the door from the side if they
are standing there firing into my house they are in the Kill Zone.
My bedroom window faces the street (where BG’S may be firing from----I pity their unfortunate souls.
