I decided to clean the striker channel on my current carry gun, Shield 45. I’ve had this gun for less time, but it was substantially more dirty (I have fired this gun quite a bit recently). S&W also painted the firing pin red, and some of that is starting to run off

Get the backplate off was a nightmare. I had to use one of those jar grip things to get a grip while pushing the striker spring down. I will not be doing this on this fun for at least a year, maybe longer 
The during reassembly I forgot to put the barrel and recoil spring in… that was a scary 5 minute adventure

Many of my guns get deep cleaned as needed. I have some guns that go through 300+ round range sessions pretty frequently so just standard field cleaning will only go so far. I feel very comfortable taking any of my CC guns down a pile of parts.
