Could passengers have SAVED Iryna Zarutska? | Blaze Media

I found this article to be very thought-provoking. Let’s be real. What would we have done had we been on that train? I have not seen the video, so perhaps I’m not in the best place to posit what I would have done under those exact same circumstances.

Assumption: in many jurisdictions, you cannot legally carry on public transportation. I don’t know the laws in NC.

Seems like deploying pepper spray in an enclosed train car could have challenges.

Do we all carry medical? Not sure that would have done any good in this scenario.

I always carry a backpack in these types of places. Seems like that could be used as a shield or insulator against an attacker with a knife if I did try to intervene.

The sheepdog’s response would vary based upon where he was sitting on that train. If he was behind the attacker, the sheepdog has the element of surprise. If you are facing the attacker, your reaction would be different.

No one wants to be a Daniel penny, especially in bigger cities where testosterone is lacking for most.

Atleast someone should have put pressure on the wounds, try to save her.

It was a total sneak attack from behind, over in less than two seconds.

Shooting the perp would have only been after the fact, or if you already had a weapon drawn on him with finger on trigger.

I do not know if she could have been saved, but I am 100% sure that she didn’t have to die alone.

Had I been there, I would have done what I could to stop or slow the bleeding. I would have made sure she knew that I was there.

The most disgusting part of it was that they all ignored her and the killer, even while he was walking around dripping blood from his hand/knife. It would have been reasonable to assume he was still dangerous and willing and able to strike again, except the rest of the passengers were not young, white women - as the killer told them I got a white girl (or woman, I can’t recall the exact term he used, and do not want to research that).

Saved? i’m not sure about that. But if some people on the train had their heads not in their phones…and maybe gave crazy man the hairy eyeball…who knows.

It happened so quickly, the nearest willing good guy could only “save” the victim in terms of first aid, not the attack itself.

I’m suggesting that if someone were going to do something…get away with something, knowing that folks are watching them can deter them. This guy seems absolutely nuts…so who knows. As it was, I’m surprised that anyone even noticed it happened.

No one in the car offered first aid. No one in the car confronted the perp. An innocent girl died.
The experts say you can’t predict what you’d do under that kind of stress, but maybe that’s because nobody contemplates what they do under that kind of stress.
Maybe it’s time to contemplate, so the next time maybe there would be at least a fighting chance

I’m now seeing “I am Charlie” tee shirts (resurrected from the Charlie Hebdo era?)
Maybe someone should print up some "I am Daniel Penny " shirts?

Probably not. The abruptness of the attack along with the reaction of those that witnessed and the indifference, she stood no chance unfortunately. They walk among us freely.

What a sad state our society has devolved to. Our future I fear is in doubt.

Especially if we don’t re-establish the rule of law.

The first thing that struck me was they use the word killer instead of murderer after I saw that my eyes kind of glazed over.

Not only could they, they were morally obligated to do so.

They noticed it for sure. They just didn’t do anything at all. Not for her or to stop the attacker and not to warn anyone else.

Could she have lived? I doubt it, but at the same time, where is the humanity that we are all supposed to have to help someone in dire need?

Did anyone warn anyone else on the train bother to warn people in his path?

Did anyone that noticed the knife and blood dripping on the floor bother to try to take him down by any means necessary?

The answer is NO!

If you’ve ever had any question why you carry a firearm, this should be your answer!

Truthfully, not thinking about the perpetrator as she starts moaning and slumping in fear and pain. You can see he’s already an afterthought as he passes people on the way out! The bystanders were SO oblivious and they remain so today. It’s a fact that Daniel Penny set the precedent.
How dare you try to save a life?

Have no fear, there’s going to come a time when you’ll be able to answer that question for yourself! Be prepared. I know exactly what I would have done, it’s my weakness. Let’s get one thing straight, it has nothing to do with what he or she looked like a person dying requires some sort of decency. Humanity lost its decency! At least ALL Demoncrats!

I never use my phone in public! Could I have stopped him as his arm raised, probably stopped him from killing her but then I wouldn’t be writing about how heroic I was. I would have lost the physical fight. As the arm went up I don’t think there are many that could have drawn armed and fired without harming anyone else. Total time was approximately, what 2 seconds.
You would have to be as paranoid as me to have stopped it from ever happening. Do you think you would have asked her to move from her seat. How many would have kept an Eagle eye on him to see him open the knife! Could you have distracted him before he had a chance to act? If you pay very close attention, possibly!

It’s a fact 17% of all the children at SandyHook could have been saved had people only STOPPED THE BLEED.
The answer to the question, and I’ve seen the video censored and uncensored, YES, she could have been saved.

There are no more people like we experienced on flight 93.
This is the APATHETIC generation!

If those other flights would have had a plane load of us “ gun toting rednecks” on it Abdul would have needed a parachute.

In essence we should be issuing parachutes now. Stop the crap in its tracks. Even those in the U.S.

We’re not paying attention or some just don’t give a crap.
How can 5 that five cops get shot and three die.
Just because your neighborhood is not under fire doesn’t mean we’re not at full blown war!
Amazingly , I still give a crap.

Interestingly, this comes up on The Blaze today about another subway incident. This is how you get rewarded in NYC just for looking around.

As referenced by others in this thread–situational awareness is key. Keep your head on a swivel.
