Do some states allow individual sale of person to person, checking the FOID card of the buyer, but not requiring form 4473?

Yes, free states like Florida have no such concept as a FOID, and legal, non-prohibited residents are free to buy and sell guns among each other with no government involvement at all.

North Carolina does. I would think most do.

WV as well. Person to person in a constitutional carry state. “Seller to best of their knowledge must know buyer is legal” paraphrasing actual law.

Not NV, the Buyer still has to fill it out and pay $30 fee

As I posted on another thread in this community, is that we are being very naive to believe that there isn’t already a national gun registry. I am referring to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) which was implemented in 1993. If the whole purpose of the law was to make sure that criminals wouldn’t buy guns, why do they require the serial number of EVERY gun in EVERY transaction??? As the name of the law implies - “CRIMINAL” Background Check - wouldn’t be far simpler just to identify the 3 to 5% of the CRIMINALS that commit more than 90% of the crimes, than to intrude (unconstitutionally) on the 95% of us law abiding citizens? Am I the only one who sees this? I want to hear what all of think!

P.S. Why do you think they are pushing so hard to have private transfers to go through the NICS???

Thought I heard that in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, 2005, their police were ordered to go into homes to confiscate firearms.

Sometimes, understanding the “why’s” and transparency help us to challenge bad ideas.

Those who propose “registry”, what are their reasons, what do they think will be gained or changed?

I too am concerned about our other rights, privacy, but mostly in that if they ever misuse their authority and persecute righteous owners.

How to contact your U.S. Congressperson, Senator, White House. You can look up your more local officials easily online nowadays.

The last time I did was around when the Fed Bill proposed selling off public land, and locally when owls were dying from rat poison. There’s some evidence to suggest having and raising outdoor pet cats and/or feral cats reduces the rat population.
